This was my 3rd time seeing Steven Wright perform and he was really great. Love his humor and would definitely recommend his show. Lots of laughs and great venue as well.
I was eagerly anticipating Steven Wright's performance as I figured there was no way there would not be mostly new material this time. At his previous show in Toronto I was quite disappointed that half his jokes were repeats, some of them from all his previous shows. Imagine my disappointment when at least 90% of the material was recycled, including jokes I remember my 35 year old friend telling when he was a teenager! The good news is that for the few first timers who haven't heard it all several times before, it is absolutely hilarious. Unfortunately, most people at a Steven Wright show are repeat customers and we all deserve a full refund.
I thought this show was fantastic. It's hard to believe that he could come on and do about 1hr & 40 min of continuous non stop comedy and never look at a note. He kept us entertained the entire time and the only time he wasn't being funny is when he would stop for a drink of water and even then, often he was still telling his stories. His material is unique and he is certainly a one of a kind comic.
Steven Wright is a whole package deal. He makes you think and laugh at the same time. I really enjoyed his show.
Nobody has his style, creativity and wit. The world needs a good laugh right now, and this show is worth every penny. I love smaller venues for comedians, there is better connection.
Steven Wright delivered as promised, his signature deadpan voice and mannerisms underlining his sharp and always hilarious witticisms. Using material that borrowed heavily from his previous shows, he put together 90 minutes of unrelenting one-liners that had the audience in stitches. No matter that we've heard some of these before - they're still funny, and because there are so many jokes in the show, it's hard to remember them anyway, between shows. Peppered with some musical interludes, grace à Steve's guitar and his hilarious lyrics (sometimes mumbled for effect), the show was non-stop and flew by in what seemed like a few minutes.
Stephen Wright was his normal very funny dead-pan comic. His humour and wit exceptional. BUT, Convocation Hall was so hot I almost passed out. It was very uncomfortable. I would have much rather seen him in Massey Hall.
I never laughed so hard in my whole life. The guy is a genius!!! His delivery is absolutely matched to his type of humour. My 23-year-old son says Steven is his new favourite comedian Convocation Hall was the perfect venue. I really hope he comes back to Toronto very soon, (not including tonight, I can't go tonight).
This guys brain is wired differently. It takes a while to tune in to his vibe, but it's worth it! Dry humour, with a minimum of profanity: obtuse humour is one way to describe him. You have to pay attention, because it is easy to miss out- he makes every word count. A great evening of entertainment.
He got up and delivered very funny material from the second he stood on the stage right up until he left.
