About

Considering the astonishing gifts he has already given us through his music, do we even have the right to expect any more from Stevie Wonder? Maybe, maybe not, but the truth is the artist whose first No. 1 hit came five decades ago with "Fingertips" is in the midst of a creative explosion akin with his greatest years in the 1970's. For his first studio recordings in eight years, Wonder, the rare touring act who can be called genius without qualification, has produced not one but two records, both as distinct in their origin as they are in their intention. To fulfill a promise made to his mother who passed away in 2006, Wonder is making he first foray into gospel music; he's also making an additional record that reflects not only his growing interest in hip-hop but also personal heartbreak stemming from among other things his recent divorce.

But none of this should indicate that the Motown legend is turning his back on his monumental legacy. The owner of over 50 top 40 singles has recently taken to thrilling ticket buyers by playing the entirety of his 1976 diamond selling classic Songs in the Key of Life live in concert. It is a rare that in our lifetime a legend of Stevie Wonder's stature could find equal inspiration reaching into the future as well as the past. It is rarer still that he is able to share his joyous visions in all their power with anyone fortunate enough to catch this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer on tour.

He can still sing like when he was young, and whether it was his classics or his new stuff, the music is fantastic. He definitely gives you more than your money's worth!

Stevie Wonder _ A Master at Work

by PatGar on 2015-10-12Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Songs in the Key of Life was a different concert than one would have anticipated...very eclectic...not focusing on his greatest hits until close to the end but highlighting Wonder's diversity as a performer/song writer and the skills of the multi-talented ensemble he was working with. He did a moving, tear streaked tribute to John Lennon through the song Imagine (Lennon's 75th birthday yesterday) and for the last half hour of an almost 3 1/2 hour concert, he really let loose. Absolutely loved it. It was such a thrill to be able to go to a concert of a musician that has humbly mastered his craft and perfected his skills for over 50 years.

Not even that voice could salvage this disaster!

by AnotherHabfan on 2015-10-12Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Maybe a half hour out of three was enjoyable. Long drawn out speeches. Overextended jazz interludes. Vocal contests with "all 6" of the back up singers. A shortened medley of the songs we "really" wanted to hear. This was the worst concert I have been to in years. Too bad because his voice has not changed a bit. But alas, I have never been bored at a concert before!

    Stevie Wonder concert was unforgettable

by SashaAlex on 2015-10-12Air Canada Centre - Toronto

This was one of the best concerts we have ever been to. He performed for almost 4 hours and went through all of his best songs. The moment when he sang Imagine was especially touching. His huge band was incredible. We will never forget this concert.

    Stevie Wonder

by Spacemart on 2015-10-12Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I thought his goofing around with the other singers for a half an hour took away from a good performance.

Fantastic show from one of the Motown greats, with a very moving tribute to John Lennon in recognition of his 75th birthday on Oct. 9th.

    Stevie Wonder still has it!

by Stews on 2015-08-28Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

The concert was supposed to start at 7:30 p.m. but was changed to 8:00 a week before. There was no opening act but Stevie didn't come out until almost 8:30. Would have liked to hear more of his music instead of his conversations with the audience. Have never seen him live, his backup singers have amazing voices!

    Higher Ground!

    by bayoubunny66 on 2015-08-08Saddledome - Calgary

The Man still has more vision than a cave full of mystics. He knows how to fondle a note and how to rip the keys off a piano. The night was filled with soul and majerty. The band were able to rock, choogle, glide, funkify, and, at times, listen in awe.

    The Wonder of Stevie

    by 403Mohs on 2015-07-20Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

This was my second time seeing Stevie Wonder in concert after 28 years, and it's amazing that after all that time his voice and delivery is as sharp as ever. He's truly a legend and amazing talent.. Who in the past 30 or even 40 years is able to claim the ability to have the longevity and influence of a talent like his.

by BayBay on 2015-07-19Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Stevie Wonder was a truly amazing experience. He was interactive with the crowd, with the best sense of humour, and he sounded absolutely stellar. He is truly a class act, and so incredibly talented. If you ever get the chance to see him, DO IT!!!!! Loved every second of his show.

    No old songs!

by BernardoKave on 2015-07-18Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

He didn't sing any of his best and old songs but all contemporary ones. At least, he really sang them instead of playing a CD!

    Reverend Stevie Wonder?

by JLJLJ on 2015-07-17Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

My family had entirely different expectations coming into the Stevie Wonder concert. What we experienced was mind numbing percussion; unrecognizable be bop; and preaching from the man himself. We waited through three to four songs. My husband tuned out and my grown children wanted to leave as soon as possible. It was very disappointing for all of us. What a let down to the wonderful 10 days of the Calgary stampede.

    Wonder never ceases until......he talks

by Gooseberry on 2015-07-16Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Stevie a is true musical legend and extra so as he can't see. Stunning to see this guy live. However what was very surprising and unnerving was the amount he chatted - very charismatic and funny - but that is not why we paid to see him. Would have appreciated many more songs and one audience -sing-a-long instead of 5 -

Stevie put on yet another incredible heartfelt show. What do you expect from the legend he will always be. And of course his band was just as tight and talented as ever. Especially the percussion section. highly recommended!

    Stevie Wonder: WHAT a SHOW!!!!

by JoAndDave on 2015-07-16Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Although I could only think of 2 songs I knew of Stevie Wonder's, I knew he was a legend so I surprised my boyfriend Dave with the tickets because he plays the piano as well. By the time we got to our floor seats, Stevie had already hit the ground running and the band was in full force. The sax guys were on FIRE, the bongo dude didn't miss a beat and the back up singers brought tears to my eyes. To Boot, everyone looked so darling in their cowboy hats!!! Stevie was so engaging too, he didn't just sit on stage and perform, he brought the audience in on it, inviting us to sing and making fun of us if we got the words wrong. I felt like the show was just for the two of us. In the end, I'd realized I knew way more songs than I initially gave myself credit for! I'm not exaggerating when I say it was a life changing experience for both of us

    Stevie wows Calgary

by Mangoluvs on 2015-07-16Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

The legendary performer didn't disappoint. You can tell how much he still love getting up in front of an audience. He connected well with his fans and played nearly all of his hits. Stevie's voice is still strong and he can hit the high notes without issue. It's a shame he didn't play Part Time Lover or I Just Called to Say I Love You. Regardless, great show.

    Stevie was a wonder

by coolhand on 2015-07-15Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

By far the greatest musician I've ever seen. Sound was mediocre and there were a few songs I would have liked to hear but Stevie was just phenomenal.
