About

Considering the astonishing gifts he has already given us through his music, do we even have the right to expect any more from Stevie Wonder? Maybe, maybe not, but the truth is the artist whose first No. 1 hit came five decades ago with "Fingertips" is in the midst of a creative explosion akin with his greatest years in the 1970's. For his first studio recordings in eight years, Wonder, the rare touring act who can be called genius without qualification, has produced not one but two records, both as distinct in their origin as they are in their intention. To fulfill a promise made to his mother who passed away in 2006, Wonder is making he first foray into gospel music; he's also making an additional record that reflects not only his growing interest in hip-hop but also personal heartbreak stemming from among other things his recent divorce.

But none of this should indicate that the Motown legend is turning his back on his monumental legacy. The owner of over 50 top 40 singles has recently taken to thrilling ticket buyers by playing the entirety of his 1976 diamond selling classic Songs in the Key of Life live in concert. It is a rare that in our lifetime a legend of Stevie Wonder's stature could find equal inspiration reaching into the future as well as the past. It is rarer still that he is able to share his joyous visions in all their power with anyone fortunate enough to catch this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer on tour.

This was my first chance to ever see Stevie Wonder in concert and I was treated to 3 hours of Wonder magic. His voice is a powerful as ever, he entertains a crowd and energizes all.

Wanted to Stevie for 38 years!!!!

by TNEWMAN on 2014-12-01Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Humble, happy, grateful, spiritual, humourous, and talented beyond words. The band and back-up singers (including his daughter), the guest string and gospel choir from Toronto, the ambiance and the hits. It was the highlight of my concert experiences this year for sure. I am so happy still !!!!!

    The Legend delivers...

by Boredtodeath on 2014-11-30Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Sublime, genius, magical...superlatives do little justice to the musicality of Stevie Wonder...great band, great long performance...pity he left so many hits behind, or teasers in the pseudo medley at end...Well worth it!!

    The wonder of stevie!

by Magicbird on 2014-11-30Air Canada Centre - Toronto

A great concert from a great musician. I especially liked the recognition he gave to his band members. Also enjoyed the audience participation parts. He received a warm reception to his well known hits - the audience was on its feet dancing and singing along. Only not so great moment for me was towards the end where he veered off into his rap persona & it seemed to be more talking than singing.Having to work (early) the next day, I would have preferred a more timely start and less rap at the end!. But all in all, still an experience not to be missed

The Man. The Myth. The Legend. Stevie Wonder.

by SirDuke on 2014-11-29Air Canada Centre - Toronto

He's flawless. The voice is still there, still strong, still adding to the performance. The band is impeccable. The music comes alive and wraps around you like a warm blanket. If you have the means, I highly recommend you see him.

Stevie did not sign ... seal... and deliver!

by 3DisapointedFans on 2014-11-28Air Canada Centre - Toronto

My two friends and I took the Go..bus/Train to Toronto. We had to catch the 11;15pm train back which this is the last train for Peterborough. The concert started 45 minutes late and we had to leave at 11:00 to catch our train... We read the next day... that Stevie played past midnight... Well that wasn't conducive with our plans. So we ended up missing over 1 hour of concert time... As for concert time... We were disappointed as paying customers for high ticket prices... that we didn't hear the songs we were hoping to hear... I know Stevie is trying to promote his new album... but maybe a few songs from his new album would have suffice... not the whole album.... We were hoping to hear all the classics... best hits... etc... but we never got a chance to... nor did he play them during our time there... We only got to hear 3 hits. Overall.... we were let down... and found it to be a bit boring when he went on and on with some of the songs from his new album. We were looking forward to be on our feet... dancing and singing along with the favourites!!!

I have found the songs in my life

by U2Wanted on 2014-11-28Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Nov 25, 2014 was the 2nd time I experienced Stevie with the first time being the previous tour supporting Time for Love Love and Peace was in the air at the Air Canada Centre Stevie performed a marathon concert with an enormous stage and huge band. Glad the horns were there. Surprised he did not open with Black Man or say something about FERGUSON verdict that was announced the previous night. I really really oved this show --- great seats / great staff /// everything fell into place...

Stevie Wonder could use better advice...

by fogey60s on 2014-11-28Air Canada Centre - Toronto

started quite late - couple of somber opening songs - tribute to Ferguson & Cleveland shootings maybe? played very few of the old favourites - when he did the crowd got excited - too few and far between. he did a collage of oldies as sort of his encore but a lot of people had left by then. the instrumentations were very good. but there were many mechanical issues - mikes not working, mobile phone schtick failed and some very attractive lady brought up and he sang to her (Just Called...) - who was she? Stevie Wonder is a genius - but he wasn't playing what this audience went to hear.

    Stevie Wonder a true legend

by Borntodance on 2014-11-28Air Canada Centre - Toronto

It was an honour to be there. While he played songs upfront that we didn't recognize, the music was great. The concert heated up when he got to about 11:30pm and started playing the songs that made him famous. My only comment is that I would have liked him to play the full songs rather than just teasers. That being said, when he ended with Superstition, the crowd went crazy! Lots of energy and a fabulous sense of humour.

    Amazing music, not enough food!!

by Danuta on 2013-10-08Great Lawn at Central Park - New York

I loved the Global Citizen Music Festival! The line-up was amazing -- seeing Stevie Wonder perform in Central Park is something I'll never forget. It was also great to see so many celebrities and politicians come out to raise awareness about global poverty, health, education, gender equality, water and sanitation... What a wonderful cause! The one negative from the entire event was the long line ups to get food/drinks!! On top of that, by around 8:00pm all of the food had run out and there were no "in and out" privileges so it wasn't possible to leave festival grounds to get outside food and come back to enjoy the rest of the performances.

    Amazing Concert Event

by Anonymous on 2013-10-01Great Lawn at Central Park - New York

This event was for sure without a doubt a great concert, with all the top act performers, we were wowed all the way through from start to end. The purpose of the event message was well delivered by supporters of Global Citizens, and i witnessed others connecting with that message which was inspiring. Attended the previous year event and looking forward to the next one as well. New York Rocks!
