all the bands that performed were on point. great energy, good crowd, etc. only reason this didn't make 5 stars for me, is the sound system was setup poorly. sound quality aside, amazing performance by all bands that played.
This was a sweet show. Strung Out always plays a good mix of old and new material.
This show was totally amazing! I had been waiting to see them forever, and I was not disappointed. Lots of energy and the band was so awesome to everyone in the crowd! I can't wait until they come to town again!
Concert was awesome. Missed the first act. This is a Standoff and Only Crime ripped it hard. Death By Stereo - not very strong - they need a unique sound. No Use For a Name and Strung Out did not disappoint. Solid as always.
No use for a name BLEW MNE AWAY!!! rocked out so hard that i couldnt really for strung out, but it was probly the best show ill see this year , hands down!!
The show was a lot of fun- good bands, good venue. Strung Out's never as good live, but NUFAN more than made up for that!
I made 2200 kilometers of car to be there!!!!! and it was a really good show! But Toronto people are not as cool as the one in Quebec. Too bad!
Though Strung Out gave a solid performance, it was the opener "This is a Standoff" who I truly went to see. And they delivered!!! I'd recommend anyone interested in a new twist on speed punk go check them out.... their live show is awesome and their cds are in constant rotation in my car. Definitely made the show worthwhile.
The show started really late, it didnt start until shortly after 10pm, the ticket said it started at 8pm. The venue is an amazing small venue. It was a great show
Some of the opening bands wern't the greatest and it seemed to take forever for strung out to come on stage. Death by Stereo was before Strung Out. I have heard a few song by them and was amazed by their energy and enhusiam. I definitely bought their cd after that performance. Strung played a good show as always. They didnt talk to the crowd as much as they have at some shows but they played all their good songs. Merch was fairly priced as usual but not a great selection for girls. Overall I really enjoyed strung out and would go again definitely. It was as if I was seeing live in a dive with a few new songs added.
Death by stereo was awsome. The sound for strung out was not great. I've seen strung out before and they are really good live. I have been to a lot of shows at the starlite room and it's usually good.
This was the 6+ time I've seen Strung Out. As always, they were excellent. Sound was good, crowd was into the show. If you haven't seen these guys yet - go see them! They will not disappoint! Sooo glad to see them back touring again after a few years off.
Strung Out @ MacEwan Ballroom May 16/09. The show started off with a local act named The Hours. Noy bad but seemed at times uncomfortable on stage by spending a lot of time facing the drummer. This is a Standoff is alos from Calgary. I believe I have seen them before but can’t remember when. Their show was excellent with a very skater punk sound. My only issue was with the 2nd guitar player who seemed to be all over the place on his guitar and it didn’t sound good at all. These guys are part of Jagermusic Canada. When Death by Stereo hit the stage the atmosphere really changed in the place. The crowd got crazy including myself. DBS were amazing, with playing some crazy solos even drinking 2 beers at the same time as playing a solo. Probably half the crowd was there in support of DBS. I had the opportunity to see Strung Out last year but had another concert the same night. I’m glad I was able to seee them this year. Strung out’s sound is great and have an excellent stage presents for their live show. I was stage right with Jake rip’n sh*t up all night. Jason and Chris both make their way all over the stage so everyone has a good chance to see them up close. The show ended with a 2 song encore and the guys came to the baracade after to say hi to everyone.
The show all around was amazing. Opening bands started it off with a great vibe and Strung Out finished the night off with an amazing show. I would definitly go back to see them again!

Extremely boring and the same old act for Strung Out once again. The venue was 18+, but you would have thought you were at a show with a bunch of pre-pubescent boys. I have seen stung out several times now and I find each time is getting wrorse.
Lead singer is sooo good. 2nd time i've seen them. Can't wait to see them again in Calgary!
not sure if it was the technical difficulties, or I'm just getting old... but it started a little late(yeah, I'm getting old lol) also, what's with the opening band's matching clothes and dew rags?? give me a break! otherwise, SO is alright!
Death by Stereo was great to open and we expected super hard trax from Strung Out in order to match the opening act. But... a mike blew after the first two songs for SO and we could not hear any vocals for Strung Out for the whole show. That was lame and I left early because the stupid staff could not fix it during the 30 minutes where Jason tried to scream the lyrics through another mike. Venue sucked... although I have seen good shows there before.... this was not one of them.
