    Stuart Mclean is always unforgettable

by Donledu on 2012-10-29Arden Theatre - St Albert

We have been attending the Christmas Vinyl Cafe at the Jubillee for years, and have always enjoyed it. BUT, the smaller venue added significantly to the fun. I will continue to watch for future shows in smaller halls.

The Vinyl Cafe was everything and then some!

by Travellingman on 2012-10-23Vanier Hall - Prince George

I have never been to a Stuart McLean performance before and it was wonderful to put a face to the voice. The man is an amazing story teller, he brings it to life. The only draw back was having children under the age of 5 there, the crying and noise was a bit distracting, the mom patting the baby's back so hard that it was difficult to hear (they sat right behind us)

Stuart McLean always delivers an excellent show!

by Livvie on 2012-10-22Vanier Hall - Prince George

This is my third consecutive show and each year is always fantastic. The music choice of Harry Manx was excellent and I even purchased his CD. I only wish that there was more time allotted for Stuart to tell more stories. I do believe he only told 3 stories overall. However, all in all an excellent show and I can't wait for the next one in 2 years time!

Truly entertaining evening. Canada's story teller.

by Anonymous on 2012-10-22Vanier Hall - Prince George

We had a wonderful evening at the show. Stuart is an animated storey teller. His word pictures describe delightful human life events. Nothing of violence, guts and gore. Just good wholesome family entertainment. The musical companions where excellent in their roles. Will go to see them yet again!!!

Funny, Intelligent, and great musical guests

by Kanawanakid on 2012-10-19Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

I often listen to the Radio show but it was my first time seeing the live show. He mentioned that it felt more like he was sitting in a living room, than performing in a concert hall and I couldn't agree more. Very relaxed and very entertaining. Harry Manx was the musical guest that palyed between stories. I immediatly bought his CD.

Stuart is an amazingly wonderful storyteller. Very entertaining...he paints a picture with words like no one else. Loved the show, the guest artist and the Vinyl Cafe musicians. So worthwhile. A real Canadian treasure.

    More Stuart McLean, Less Music

by Discouraged on 2012-10-19Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

I first started listening to Stuart McLean on CBC this year and thought he was an incredible, insightful and very funny writer and storyteller. This is the first time we have seen Stuart McLean 'live'. The first half of the show was 'amazing', the second half of the show was 'average'. As Mr. McLean only told three stories, and the last story was mediocre, we were partly disappointed. The music provided was average (spoken by a person who was a professional vocalist for 25 years). It would be great if Mr. McLean would do four really funny stories having 4 minute interludes of music between each story. Maybe a really good pianist would be enough. The concensus with our party was that they came to listen to Stuart McLean and didn't feel they heard enough of him.

Stuart and his musical guests were amazing!!!

by corki on 2012-10-18Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Stuart has the amazing ability to transport his audience right into the story he's telling at any given time. At least that's how we feel when we're at his show. The musicians were wonderful, and we were totally impressed (especially) with Harry Manx "from the Isle of Mann"!!! In short, as always, Stuart McLean and The Vinyl Cafe is a wonderfully enjoyable way to spend an evening......He seems a very humble man, and it's gratifying to see someone doing something he so obviously enjoys. He's extremely good at it, that's for sure!!!!!!

    Stuart MacLean - Awesome storyteller-entertainer.

by Royski on 2012-10-18Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Stuart' s stories of Dave and Morley family are wonderful. I heard one of his stories before on tape before, but it is so much more appealing in person. he told two stories I hadn't heard before and he had us all in stitches. His back up players were terrific and Dave shearer played a fantastic tribute to the movies. I recognized at least 20 movies and with another listen I could get close to the 33 he played about. The guest Walter Manx is such an accomplished Canadian singer and he did a great rendition or embellishment of Jimmy Hendrix songs and lyrics. He is an accomplished artist.

Stuart McLean is the most amazing entertainer!

by snowgal on 2012-10-18Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

This concert was my birthday present (on my birthday) and I couldn't have asked for a better gift. I love listening to Stuart on the radio, but to see him in person as he presents his Dave and Morley stories is to get right into the story with him. We were fortunate to have 3 Dave and Morley stories and the history of the Vinyl Cafe all in one concert. The story of the water slide in the back yard is so much fun. The new yoga story is hilarious (and delightfully rude), and the story about Morley and memories was so touching. I hope Stuart keeps touring. I will go to see him every time he comes to Kelowna.
