Missed the show b/c venue screwed up!!!!!

by molsonsucks on 2011-06-15Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I showed up during the opening act to this concert, but even though I purchased tickets online a week earlier so I could pick them up at the Molson Ampitheatre, I had to stand in line for well over an hour before I could pick up the tickets I ALREADY PAID FOR!!! As a result, I missed well over half of Supertramp's set, not to mention whoever was the opening act. Supertramp however, put on a great show. Once I got in, their last few songs (that's all I saw) were super, and I'd happily see them again at any other venue but the Molson Ampitheatre. Overall, Molson Ampitheatre completely screwed something up and because of that, I missed most of the show by showing up on time and I'd really like my money back. :(

    Roger Hodgson was sorely missed

by GrewuplikingtheRicksongs on 2011-06-15Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Former Supertramp co-writer/lead singer/guitarist Roger Hodgson was sorely missed at this show. Fake Roger 1 and Fake Roger 2 did faithful renditions of the Roger songs such as Give A Little Bit, Take the Long Way Home, The Logical Song, Breakfast in America, Dreamer and School. Jesse Seidenberg was a real trooper when electric piano conked out, not missing a beat in switching between three pianos over one song. But concert would have been so much more magical with Roger Hodgson in the lineup, and Dougie Thomson for that matter. Rick and Roger: got conflicting tour schedules? Surely there's an app for that! Work the platform, Supertramps.

    Supertramp in Toronto

by San1979concert on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Supertramp was good, but, venue did not do them justice. Sky was too bright, videos could not been seen unless looking straight on, back lighting on stage made it so all you could see was black figures. Could watch screens, but, cameraperson was not inline with what was going on on stage, quite often nothing was even being display. Went to Blue Rodeo last year & they did not have all these technical problems, and we watch full concert on screens, all was good, so depends on band I guess. However, I do understand was the 1st concert of the year, possibly it was a learning curve.

    Supertramp is super

by Rocdoc on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Being a fan since the 70's , I knew I had to see this show but I was worried that without Roger Hodgeson's distinctive vocals these classic songs would not be as good. WRONG ! This group rocked ! They gave the crowd all the great Supertramp songs and added a few more.Only a handful of groups have ever produced albums where every song is good....but Supertramp did......and their show got better and better as they moved through these songs. They saved the best for the last....the encore including Dreamer, School and Crime of The Century........I would love to see them again !!!!

    Supertramp

by blondeboy on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

They were just like I remember them when there were here in 1985. They played all there best songs. It was a nice night to sit and listen. A very relaxed growd. The band sound was excellent The light show was very simple. I truly enjoyed the evening.

    Supertramp were "SUPERTRAMP"

by Anonymous on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I was at the 1983 World Tour in Ottawa and the sound was just as great. The songs were as good as you could hope for. Worth every penny, don't miss if you get a chance to see them.

    Supertramp was great

by Pichenotte on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Having grown up listening to Supertramp, I have always wanted to see them live. Living in rural Ontario in the 70's did not present the opportunity. The show at the Molson Amphitheatre was great. Although I was not familiar with some of the songs, the tried and true brought back memories. Light show could be improved. Background floods blinding the audience and making the band disappear in light got to be a bit much after the whole show. More creative overhead lighting would benefit the visual experience greatly.

Not the calibre it should have been - disappointed

by MammaMikki on 2011-06-14MTS Centre - Winnipeg

A very lack luster show. The music wasn't loud enough. I could hear the couple behind me talking all throughout the show. The effects were minimal and they used the exact same videos they used the last time in Winnipeg (I am not sure how many years ago, but approximately 5 - 7 years). That was cheap and a real let down. The drummer's son was doing some of the lead vocals and didn't do the phrasing like the originals... so it sounded like a cover band. The cameras that put images of the concert on the two big screens were done very poorly too. They were off when they should have been on, and when they were on, they showed benign images like a stack of amps or a flash of the drummer (during a guitar solo?). I really wasn't all that impressed. Even the stage energy was kind of blah. I remember seeing Supertramp a few years ago in Winnipeg - the energy was higher, the music louder and everything seemed much more polished. Everyone on stage THEN looked to be having fun. This 2011 concert was a disappointment.

    Tired Tramps

by qpid77 on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

The Tramps were tired and I felt it !! There was no energy until 'Rudy' their 11th song that they woke up !! The show was good but it could have been better had they gotten more rest !! From the way they spoke and performed you could feel the tiredness in them. The sound was lousy also until about the 8th song and then the keyboard quit in the middle of 'The Logical Song' almost at the end !! There was no real light show or videos and as one reviewer said "the production was relatively low-key" Would I see them again ??? Probably not !! I did enjoy the show but for the money i paid ($90) I expected more !!

    Supertramp - Roger? What Roger?

by music4life on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Watching Rick perform the songs that he wrote and performed originally was great. However, when Roger's songs came up there was a feeling of being at a tribute concert. Nice to hear the songs, but feeling cheated for not being able to see the original artist performing them. It really is a shame that those two can't get it together. I know that if they did they could sell out arenas around the world and most importantly, the chemistry of the original lineup would be there for the audience. That is after all why we are fans in the first place. The magic. Unfortunately it was a bittersweet night for me. Could have been a 5 star night if Roger was there. But his lack of presence alone cost the band 2 stars.

    Supertramp Big Let Down

by new123 on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Many of us were so excited about this concert. Lots of potential to play some amazing songs that for many would have been special to hear. Some were played and some were not. I still can't believe they didn't play Hide In You Shell. Big let down for me. First part of the concert was a huge bore no energy at all . Got better towards the end. I should have saved my money and listened to their best at home.

Supertramp could have been more super.

by Janners on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

It took them a long time to warm up the crowd. I thought I was a fan but I didn't recognize the music until the 5th song. There was little to no light show and they barley spoke to the crowd. Could have been better.

    Supertramp Super

by Rosssy on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I have always wanted to see this band live, but never got the opportunity , well worth waiting for after many years of being out of the lime light, they rocked . Incredibly musicians and sounded exactly like the original recordings. Highly recommend seeing them.

    Supertramp still super

by RustyMC on 2011-06-14Credit Union Centre - Saskatoon

Went with my Dad to hear all the hits and check out the new band lineup. These guys did a good job of finding the right talent to preserve their signature sound. Lots of different musical influences and instruments create a refreshing break from the monotony of today's pop music for sure. Very melodic, and a very tight performance. We also forgot earplugs but the volume was perfect.

    Great sound

by KawiFangled on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I saw Supertramp years (20+/-?) ago at MapleLeaf Gardens. I recall a boring show. Must be my age or something but this time around I was very impressed with the full sound of Supertramp live. The only negative was that I did not think the sax player was as good as the rest of the band. Stood there dead stiff huffin and puffin away. He was a bore to watch (not much of a showman) and I did not feel he played particularily well. First half of the show was music I did not recognize; albeit, I'm not a huge fan so am only familiar with their mainstream stuff. Second half was more popular songs. Having said that, overall the show was worth my $65 level 400 Molson Amphitheatre tickets. Biggest complaint = $15 for a beer!!!. You gotta be kidding me!!?

    Supertramp was good

by horseshu on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

The concert was ok but the band seemed to miss a few beats and seemed a little confused at times. Maybe they should have practiced a little more. Most of the original Supertramp songs they did were really good and the replacement for Roger Hogson did a fine job. I think the sound would have been better in a closed venue.

    Supertramp without Roger Hodgson

by Daniela13 on 2011-06-14Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

They didn't advise that Supertramp is playing without Roger Hodgson and we were disapointed finding about that at the concert. Not the same I would say... It was ok but they were late coming on the stage and didn't play for too long.
