About

Taking Back Sunday is one of the most notable bands to emerge from emo’s third wave. The group, which formed in 1999 on Long Island, New York, has featured the lineup of vocalist Adam Lazzara, guitarist John Nolan, bassist Shaun Cooper and drummer Mark O'Connell for nearly two decades. TBS have released eight studio albums, including their 2002 platinum-certified debut Tell All Your Friends and four career Top 10 releases on the Billboard 200. After 2004’s “A Decade Under the Influence” became their first single to hit the Alternative Airplay chart, the quartet released their breakthrough 2006 effort Louder Now, led by the Hot 100-charting single “MakeDamnSure.” The band spent 2022 collaborating with the likes of Steve Aoki and The Maine before releasing their 2023 full-length, 152.

    Taking Back Sunday Delivered

by tabsk on 2009-08-20Kool Haus - Toronto

After rescheduling their original Toronto event this summer, they really made this show worth the wait. TBS's frontman Adam Lazzara always gives an entertaining performance. The whole band has a lot of passion and personality. The reason I give the show four starts though, not five, is because I would've loved to hear more of the old stuff. Yeah, they are promoting 'New Again', but come on, they played 8 songs off that album! Every TBS fan will tell you the first two albums were solid gold, and the last two are just, well, different. It's not that TBS is going downhill, they're just changing. I give the boys kudos for trying new things and I think it's exciting for the fans and the band as well to change their sound up a little. I like that their lyrics are still incredible, the sound really is the only thing that's changing. Overall, they gave Toronto a great performance and really fun show.

    Adam is a god

by Lisssa on 2009-08-20Kool Haus - Toronto

AMAZING. I have been to so many shows and this one was definitely one of the best. Adam was totally on his game as well as the rest of the band. Fred is gone but the new singer fits in perfectly!

    T.B.S.

by gurlattherokshow on 2009-08-20Kool Haus - Toronto

Even though Taking Back Sunday are probably my most favorite band of all time, this wasn't their best show. Other than the fact that they sounded great, it just wasn't "amazing." But...when they play again in 2 days with Blink 182...THAT will be amazing :)

    Taking Back/Anberlin...worth the drive!

by kaym on 2009-07-18Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I have been a HUGE fan of Anberlin and TBS for as long as I can remember, but I never had the chance to see them in concert. Their recent tour didn't bring them to Alberta, so some friends and I decided we were going to go to them. We hoped in our car and drove 12 hours to Vancouver to experience one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen. The Commodore was the perfect venue, and I loved that it wasn't an all ages show. Anberlin was incredible as the openers, and TBS blew my mind! They introduced a lot of new songs from their (not yet released album) New Again, and they rocked some older songs that were unbelievable! If I had the chance again I would definitely make the drive back to Van for another show!

Solid show by a band I barely knew of

by dablowfish on 2009-07-18Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I found out about this band browsing through upcoming events in the Georgia Straight. Checked out a few songs on youtube and grabbed a ticket for the show. They played mostly songs from their then unreleased cd which I had never heard before so I was going in blind. The crowd was great and the band sounded good. The commodore was the perfect venue for them and I would definitely go see them again.

Vegas house of blues is an amazing venue

by Pdizzle222 on 2009-07-15House of Blues Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Probably the best concert I have been to. Envy on the coast stole the show and the House of Blues in Vegas is among the greatest venues to hold a small event like this. Great service at all the bars.

Taking Back Sunday at the Commadore

Me and my friends had a great time at the show. They played alot of their older music which was good, and it was high energy.

Taking Back Sunday was pretty good

    by roxie1742 on 2009-07-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

This concert was pretty good. I used to be a huge Taking Back Sunday fan (before their last CD) so I throughly enjoyed this concert because they played a lot of songs that I thought I would only listen to on my iPod, it was very unexpected! The only thing I wish they had done differently was the way they interacted with the audience...since it was such an intimate concert at a small venue I think more interaction with the audience could have made this a 5 star concert. Overall it was a good time.

Taking Back Sunday delivered, The Commodore didn't

by clynn on 2009-07-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

The first band, Envy the Coast was terrible. Their singer was completely trashed on stage, to the point where I actually feared that he was going to fall over onto the audience or puke on us. They were tuning their guitars WHILE PLAYING THEM. They just were not at all good. Anberlin played their best show that I have ever seen them play. They had more energy than they usually did and sounded great. They played all their best songs with a perfect mix of old and new. Taking Back Sunday, though they could have played more songs off their most successful album Louder Now, also gave a great performance. The biggest problem with this show was the sound at The Commodore. The feedback was terrible on the speakers and at one point one of the speakers even blew. I've heard that their sound people were terrible and this being my first show to see at the venue definitely established the truth to the rumours.

Taking Back Sunday? More like, take back my money.

by SummerStars on 2009-07-13Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I was extremely excited to watch TBS, since I've never seen them live before due to living overseas for quite some time and sold out shows. But, I finally got the chance in Vancouver! I've been a fan of theirs since 2002. And well, I was incredibly disappointed when they played at the Commodore Ballroom. It was gut wrenchingly terrible. Yes, the hit songs were a blast, but my goodness, the sound balance was bloody awful. They need a new sound guy, somebody there is clearly tone deaf. It can't be the venue, because I've seen the TIng Tings and other bands at the Commodore and they were fabulous. Plus Adam Lazzara was doing such a half ass job. He appeared bored and seemed to be talking the lyrics instead of singing/screaming them. It came off as very lazy, almost as if he couldn't care less. The only thing he did that was entertaining were his mic tricks. I understand they must be tired from touring, but come on! They are sell outs now, they should be capable of playing and sounding amazing by now, no matter what.

    TBS was good but....

by Nammerz on 2009-07-13Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

All in all the Commodore is amazing. Taking Back Sunday played awesome, as per usual. The only downfall was the crowd, drunk and rowdy. Not my cup of tea. And I was disappointed as to whom opened.

Taking Back Sunday Takes Back the Title

    by Timmer on 2009-07-13Clutch Cargo's - Pontiac

Taking Back Sunday played amazingly well at Clutch Cargo's as usual and in fact blew me away with the new songs from their then, unreleased Album "New Again". Their new addition to the band fit in very well and his vocals blended nicely with the older songs as well. As always, their high energy and dedication to putting on a great show left everyone there impressed and pumped. Anberlin, who also played, were incredible as well and got the crowd ready with their first widely played radio hit.

    Taking Back Sunday Was AMAZING!

    by Moleman54321 on 2009-07-12Clutch Cargo's - Pontiac

Taking Back Sunday put on an amazing show. I've seen a lot of live video's where they are not that good live. Their Clutch Gargo's performance was simply stunning. Taking Back Sunday was really in touch with the crowd. As I was sitting around watching Anberlin, I saw Adam walking around the crowd meeting fans and watching Anberlin as well.
