A monumental acting and a outstanding play

by s. O. on 2019-11-07Meridian Arts Centre (formerly Toronto Centre): Studio Theatre - Toronto

What a treat to see the playwright performing his own play, and later listen to a post performance chat with him. A difficult subject treated with honesty, even humour, but magistral moving to tears at the end. Tom Dugan is an unbelievable interpretar offering a master class acting. A must see!

    Fantastic...and surprising!

by Ellenthedaughter on 2017-07-17Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

I went to this show to keep my elderly father company. I don't speak or even understand much Yiddish (other than the familiar expressions). However, the singing was of such high quality, and there was enough familiarity in the melodies and intonation...along with some English translation...that I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I would recommend it to anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of the Jewish experience.

    Delimax

by DannyR on 2015-01-17Studio Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

As a former Montrealer, I really felt I was at my favourite deli in Montreal. The story was heavier than I expected but the actors were really good at their parts. I was hoping for something a little lighter but I still enjoyed the show and teh Q & A afterwards with the actors and director.

    The Chosen was delightful

by frm5 on 2013-11-14The Studio Theatre - Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

I loved the book and the movie, and the Teatron production did not disappoint. Within the confines of a single stage setting, the cast superbly conveyed the joys and trials in the relationships between Reuven and Danny, Reuven and his father, and Danny and his father. The script even managed to teach a little Talmud in the process! The acting was wonderful and succeeded in delivering the many messages of this lovely story.

    Really enjoyed ASHER LEV

by TheatreMan on 2013-08-05Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

I just wanted to congratulate you on ASHER LEV. It was a very interesting show. Great acting. Geoff really pulled it off wonderfully. And I really enjoyed the other male actor’s characterizations. The staging was magnificent. Everything in full view. Great transitions. I love that kind of theatre. I had a friend with me who had read the book. I knew nothing about the story and we both enjoyed it. Well done.

    Teatron Theatre

Wonderful theatre company. Jacob and Jack was excellent...fast paced, well acted, many good laughs. Very professional. Just as professional as any downtown theatre.

Jacob and Jack was unforgettably brilliant

by view29 on 2013-06-23Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

I just loved everything about the production-the wit, nostalgia, acting, pace. I felt like I had been to Broadway- in 2 eras! The cast was amazing-each person played two parts and was perfectly suited for both. Thanks, Ari, for such a wonderful treat.

The play was amateurish. The acting was adequate but the set looked like it was designed by a child. Use proper props next time.
