    A Fun Afternoon

by CJDFNS on 2011-09-25Jubilee - Calgary

The show was better than I was expecting it to be. It was colourful and fun with music the children could easily sing along to. Simple yet entertaining props made the show slightly more appealing. The children were very excited to participate, dance, and sing during the entire show. The slight intermission was a nice touch that allowed the children, and parents, to take a bathroom break and purchase pitiful little juice drinks at outrageous prices. Overall, it was a fun afternoon and we all had fun. The ticket price was reasonable for this type of show, but I probably would not attend again. Not that it was bad, but hey once is more than enough.

Backyardigans did not live up to the TV show!

by EdmBeau on 2011-09-16Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Show was lacking in stage props and audience participation. They did not get the children dancing at all. The show could have been 20-30 minutes shorter. My 4yr old son was one of the first to leave the theatre. Disappointing as we saw Calliou last year and my son loved it so much he was dancing in the aisle.

My son LOVED the singing and dancing. He recognizes all the characters and was really getting into the play. My daughter recognized many of the songs and was up dancing and singing along.

    Backyardigans = AWESOME!

by Savalee on 2011-09-16Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

This was such a great show. You can tell they put a lot of effort in. After seeing Toopy And Binou at the same venue and being very disappointed, this changed my view on the quality of children play/concerts. This is how it should be done. Appreciation to their fans showed in every part of this production. My daughter loved every second!!!

    Backyardigans- Kelowna

by clink1 on 2011-09-16Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

The concert itself was AMAZING. The kids LOVED it and so did I! We all really enjoyed it and would definately recommend it. The only part that we were ALL unhappy with was the parents who decided to let their kids run wild and some parents seriously put their kids on the stage. SO disrespectful to all others who paid to watch them as well as to the whole crew. Just very irritating and so distracting to the ones who's children actually behave. Other then that part like I said the concert was fantastic!! SO glad we went!

    Backyardigans fun for the kids

by Kelly12 on 2011-09-16Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

It was cute, lively and entertaining. The story was easy enough for the kids to follow and the space alien was a good singer.

    OK for a dress rehearsal...

by Meand3kids on 2011-09-14The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Although my kids enjoyed it (which is the important part), I must say that between the dance steps being so out of time, the stage-spotting being so obviously sloppy and the audio/microphone on the "alien" failing for an entire scene...it was not up to performance quality. I would say it was OK for a dress rehearsal - at best, but overall left me regretting the expense of the show for myself and 3 kids.

Backyardigans was a true experience for my boys

by EricsMommy on 2011-09-13Bell Performing Arts Centre - Surrey

This is the second time that we've seen The Backyardigans on stage. As was the last time, it was well worth every penny. The intermission was well placed for the littler ones, The costumes, voices, dancing and story lived up to all expectations. I was also very glad to see that they were accepting all forms of payment for the show merchandise, rather than just cash. It made things so much easier.

My son loved the show. The only thing that didn't go too well was the screen didn't work properly during the show for a little while. Other than that, we really enjoyed it!

My son loved it. Found it a bit too long. If they could do without the intermission it might be better.

It was a little dull. Not as interactive as "humans" would have been. The girl who was the Alien was great. My son could take it or leave it. His buddy that came with us didn't like it at all and didn't mind saying so -love little peoples honesty :)

    wouldnt go again

by cay23 on 2011-09-13The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

we left at intermission along with others. The show was really boring and slow. Looked like it was on slow play. The background and stage props were lacking, if there was any props it would be one thing each scene. definitely not worth $100 we paid for the 3 of us.

    great show - musical medley

by KatJ on 2011-09-13The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

great show - lots of fun - it was a smart idea to have music in it from all episodes so kids recognized it...good staging too. The alien character was a bit annoying and repetative...that character was better for very young children. The alien pet they were looking for during the show was well satged with the puppet attached to the actor.

    The show is good

by Kentchen on 2011-09-13The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

it's good but not as good as I expected. Maybe the interaction just wasn't enough. The show supposed to have a lot of songs and dances that can engage with the kids but didn't see much there. I was expecting a lot more excitements. But overall, still it's a good show that your kids won't disappoint. Another note, before seeing the show you better watch at least one of them on TV with the kids to make a little familiar with all the characters.
