About

The Black Crowes are leaving the bullshit in the past. 15 years after their last album of original music, the Robinson Brothers present Happiness Bastards - their 10th studio album. Some may say the project has been several tumultuous years in the making, but we argue it's arriving at just the right time. Call it brotherly love or music destiny that brought them back together, the highly anticipated record consecrating the reunion of this legendary band just may be the thing that saves rock & roll. In a time where the art form is buried beneath the corporate sheen of its successors, The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped, bare-boned rock & roll. No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at it's very best - gritty, loud, and in your face.

Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they've made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker, the album that put them on the map. Upon their return from the road, they knew they needed something new to show for their lost time. The Robinson Brothers and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. And it's finally here - Happiness Bastards is out March 15, 2024.

    Great Sound!!!

by Canasian on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

This was my first time going to a concert at Casino Rama. The sound there was amazing!!! I was a bit disappointed in the length of the show as it was only 1 hour 20mins long. I was also disappointed in the fact that they didn't play Hard to Handle or some of their other more famous songs like Sister Luck and Seeing Things. They did however, play She Talks to Angels and Remedy but that wasn't until the encore. Chris Robinson sounded amazing and right on point!!! He's starting to look a tad old around the eyes but the show was great nonetheless. I was a tad disppointed in the fact that there wasn't any banter with the audience either. All in all, it was an awesome sounding show. I was just disppointed in some of the material they chose.

    Black Crows come up short

by Name on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

The Black Crows concert last night at Casino Rama was entertaining, however, given that they are a decent jam band, the length of the concert was extremely disappointing. We drove from Toronto to Orillia to see a 1.5hr concert ... not worth it - anything less than 2 hours is unacceptable!!! I'd like to know if the length of the show was because of the band itself or a time limit placed on concerts by Casino Rama.

GUYS From the BLACK CROWES STill got it !!

    by Nickiedana2 on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

The Black Crowes Still know how to put on a great show after more then 10 years i havnt seen them live until lastnight was very very impressed with the their performance as well with the Venue they played at , which was Casino Rama in Orillia Ont, This concert Venue helped us save some cash by having a Shuttle Bus Safely pick us up from our hotel & drop us back off after the night of play , in which we saved over $80.00 in cab fare!!! The band has put together a great set for the show including lots of old hits like ( she talks to Angles) & with lots of new stuff that i wasnt at all familier with but found to Enjoy everysingle tune they played from their new genre of style, as with the fabulous encore at the end of the show & in closing the show with REMEDY!! I WILL sooo SOO go back to see the guys when they return to Ontario & B t w NOT a BAD Seat in the house & SOUND was Great!! What more can I say !! was a Great Night to Remember!! Thanks again!

    Black Crowes were forgettable

by Ralphette on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

The guitars/instruments were excellent. We were not impressed with the length of the concert (under 1.5 hr), I did not like the singers voice, and there was NO interaction with the audience. I got the feeling that these guys weren't enjoying themselves. I found the "fans" rude. Meaning that many of them were still arriving @ 930 pm or later and they kept getting up and leaving and then returning constantly interupting the hard core fans.

    Sweet show (but short)

by darkestcanuck on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

What a great show. The band was really tight, and there was a good selection of songs. My only complaint was that it was short. An hour and a half? The night before their set was two hours long.

    7th time another charm!

    by BlackCrowes4Ever on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

This was my seventh time seeing The Black Crowes in concert and I must say they just keep getting better each time. Some fans I'm sure were not amused that they played SO many new tracks off there two latest releases from this past week but "oh well" is all I can say to them. The thing I love about BC is that they play what they want and they actually like playing their new material and do not tour a "greatest hits package" tour each time out. I really enjoy the new stuff, as I do the old, so I was happy to hear it all. As for when they rocked out some older tunes like "Remedy" - wow! That kicked. Lastly, I must say as a unit they sound amazing. The guitar work was simply wonderful. Can't wait to see you guys again!

by jackamino on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

great band with lots of great songs but it would be nice if they played them. yes they sounded good but they they didn't play any of thier hits til the encore. disapointed in the song choices and that they started making songs with a country sound.

    Crowes rule - Rama sucks

by kmart on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

I am a huge Black crowes fan and I knew going in that the Rama crowd would drag this show down and they did. The vibe and energy was terrible, although the Crowes sounded and played great. Although they cut the night short at 90 minutes, I believe this was because the crowd was so dead for the whole show and sat down for the entire 90 minutes. The setlist was not an amazing Black Crowes setlist but again I think they consciously said screw this. I was second row and they were fantastic and I will take away great memories from this night, only because I could turn my back on the rest of the crowd and forget about how awful they were, and vibe out with the crowes on my own. I will keep supporting and seeing this band, but I hope they never play at Rama again.

    could of been better

by PSYCHODADDY on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

i enjoyed the concert. sounded kinda like THE BAND , guess that was Levon's influence. but was still good all in all could of been better if we heard some of the familiar tunes that they are famous for... wasnt untill the encore did we hear talks to angels and remedy. i think only neil young can really get away with showing up and playing all new tunes...but never the less still worth while

    Great Venue, Lamo crowd

by foghornleghorn on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

This was the first time i've seen a show at Casino Rama. It's actually quite a good venue. Great views and excellent sound. The first half of the show was a lot of new material. Newer material than even the recent album that was released 12 days earlier. The songs the Crowes are coming up with (new album and stuff played at the show) are very blue grassy and country. It's fantastic. Black Crowes concerts are funny things. They still, after all these years, still seem to pull the majority of fans from their shake your money maker album. That's nuts! Out of the 5,000+ people there last night, i'd say 30 people stood up for the new I Ain't Hiding, which was poppin, and the other 4,970 looked confused and frustrated if they played anything from either the new album or war paint. After 20 years is it still worth $40 to wait through new material to hear She Talk to Angles? Oh well...though the show seemed short the show was great and the Crowes sounded excellent!

    The Black Crowes

by GLordRossPark on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

I loved the Crowes they rocked, but I guess they're getting tired of the road or they just want to play short sets because they left the stage after just an hour of the concert, they returned for two more songs, then they were done. I would have loved to hear songs from their Amorica disk. We missed out on some of their great songs. The seats at Rama were very un-comfortable. I liked the venue set up but gave it a 3 star rating over all.

Black Crowes - the endurance test

by Dinamo on 2009-07-21Erie Canal Harbor - Buffalo

Sorry to say I was greatly disappointed by my first Crowes concert. Yes, the band was tight, and had good energy. But they seemed oblivious to the crowd who waited patiently (and sometimes not) for a song they recognized. With all those juicy Crowes hits, surely we could have heard at least one or two before the 2 hour point. Instead they seemed intent to play all their newer or more obscure tunes. And every song seemed really long. Self-indulgent jam sessions. It's too bad they didn't feel like they owed the audience a show. Many people got frustrated and left, and you can bet they won't be singing the praises of seeing this band live. The Black Crowes lost an opportunity for some valuable word of mouth advertising. I hope they enjoyed themselves, because most of us did not.

    Crowes at the Harbor

by Crackereh on 2009-07-21Erie Canal Harbor - Buffalo

Fantastic show. It took the crowd a little while to get into it, but they came around. The band was tight and played a great set; a good mix from all their albums plus some good covers. Chris was dancing and interacting with the crowd, Mark was stoic as usual, and Sven and Luther were having a good time in their corner of the stage. I love the venue too, it was nice to be right on the water with the USS Little Rock shadowing with the stage. It was a great night.

    The Black Crowes was Jam-licious!!!

by DarrenTheDrummer on 2009-07-20Erie Canal Harbor - Buffalo

Last time I seen these guys was '94 and they were great and last night they were even better. They played some old, some older and some new stuff from their upcoming albums. They were so impressive I want to go see them in London, Ontario later this summer.

    Black Crowes

by ForFSakes on 2009-07-20Erie Canal Harbor - Buffalo

First, Erie Canal is easy to get to, cheap and lots of space. It was a well organized event. I would go back to the venue anytime. Buffalo Killers will not dazzle with soloing or noodling. They do have a strong influence from Grand Funk, James Gang and maybe even a little Rare Earth. A good band that can set the groove. Black Crowes came out for a show and pulled off a tight 2 hour plus set. We had gone to the 10 song show at Salamanca Casino a year before and were disappointed with the set length. Hardcore fans booed the band that night. Last night the Crowes came to please. All band members were genuinely having fun( except Rich who never seems to smile, despite having a collector guitar for each song). Sound quality was good. Playing was strong by all, excepting Rich again as when his solos came things plodded along. Oddly it was accurate playing so perhaps it was purposeful, but band members gave each other looks when Rich's solos plodded. I am not a rabid fan but would see them again in a couple of years.
