About

The Black Crowes are leaving the bullshit in the past. 15 years after their last album of original music, the Robinson Brothers present Happiness Bastards - their 10th studio album. Some may say the project has been several tumultuous years in the making, but we argue it's arriving at just the right time. Call it brotherly love or music destiny that brought them back together, the highly anticipated record consecrating the reunion of this legendary band just may be the thing that saves rock & roll. In a time where the art form is buried beneath the corporate sheen of its successors, The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped, bare-boned rock & roll. No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at it's very best - gritty, loud, and in your face.

Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they've made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker, the album that put them on the map. Upon their return from the road, they knew they needed something new to show for their lost time. The Robinson Brothers and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. And it's finally here - Happiness Bastards is out March 15, 2024.

    Black crowes were forgettable

by Gibby on 2009-09-15Casino Rama - Orillia

Only recognized 3 songs and I own 5 of their albums. This was the shortest concert I have ever been to and the tunes they played were more for a Sunday afternoon than a Saturday night. Minus the lack fiddles they were borderline BLUEGRASS. Rama is a great facility and it was a shame to see them sleepwalk through most of the show.

    Not so much...

by jpeg on 2009-09-14Casino Rama - Orillia

I did not enjoy this concert at all. I liked the old Black Crowes stuff and they didn't play any of it until "She Talks to Angels" which was during the encore. The stuff they played sounded like really bad country blues with some disco (yes disco) thrown in. It's too bad because I was looking forward to this concert!

    The Black Crowes

    by cbrun22 on 2009-09-14Casino Rama - Orillia

The band plays good music. However; they are not performers by any means and DO NOT put on a great show, there was absolutely no enthusiasm and it was not a rocking concert. There was no greeting when they stepped out on stage and one thank you when they exited the stage. It felt like they were just singing to pay the bills and not because they enjoy putting on a show featuring their music. The band came off as arrogant and as if their fans meant nothing to them but a pay check.

    self-indulgance

by tellit on 2009-09-14Casino Rama - Orillia

Although completely talented and enjoyable to listen to no matter what the song selection, I have to say that I was a bit dissappointed with the concert. The crowd (all you had to do was look around) was mostly 30 and 40 somethings who were BC fans going back a ways. I heard a few people shouting out to play their older hits and songs. Everyone understands that they have to promote their new music, and I wouldn't want it otherwise, but they need tomix that up throughout the whole concert with older, more recognizable selections. It was a bit self-indulgant of the band and as an audience member it felt like their choices were being shoved down my throat! Also not a lot of interaction with the audience, which I would've been able to handle had they played the music that I could interact with and connect to more...promote but not to the point of being self-indulged!!!

    The Crowes Never Disappoint

by Amorica on 2009-09-14Casino Rama - Orillia

The Crowes, as always, were unbelievable. The casino venue was a little strange, however. Would have much rather seen them at Massey Hall or the Molson Amphitheatre. Still, though, one of the best live rock 'n' roll bands out there.

    Black Crowes was good

by SOBS on 2009-09-14Casino Rama - Orillia

I did enjoy the show but the Front man did not interact with the audience at all and I wish they played more of their hits and less of their new album. Thats just my opinion though I listened to some people talking after the show and the really enjoyed the new album, I know for me it will take a few listens before I really get into it.

The Black Crowes are great live!!

by sgagnon on 2009-09-14Casino Rama - Orillia

I really enjoyed to acoustic quality of this event. They sounded amazing. Great entertainers. I didn't really know alot of their new stuff, it's really soulful. I would have liked a bit more of their popular songs intergrated in with the new album. But overall it was a great show and it would do it again.

The Black Crows blew me away.

by northernflower on 2009-09-14Casino Rama - Orillia

It seemed like the 1-1/2 hour concert flew past in about 5 minutes. I definitely could have used more. This was my first live concert for The Black Crows and I was impressed by there no nonsence style and their respect for the audience. I have yet to pick up their latest album but you can bet that I will be. I had a chance to observe the audience and the fans that were sitting close to me difinetly were die hard "Crows' fans. They were so intent on the music that it would have taken a hurricane to distract them. I hope the band enjoyed the concert experience as much as I did.

    Black Crowes show disappoints

by DinaD on 2009-09-14Casino Rama - Orillia

My expectations of the Black Crowes concert at Casino Rama was certainly not met. While the band waited for the encore to play Only 2 songs were played from their most popular album. The entire show was boring and entertaining. Unless you love listening to an average guitar player use a different guitar for almost every song and a band that does not interact with themselves or the crowd then you might have enjoyed the show. I along with many others were highly disappointed when the band played half the show instrumental and did not entertain to the crowd. They sounded like an opening band playing to an empty room.

    The Crowes Always Impress

    by Cman28 on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

Each time I see the Crowes they manage to convince me that "this was the best they have been." Once again, they rocked. Never pass up the opportunity to see this band.

    The Black Crowes...

    by SUDBURY339 on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

The Black Crowes - We did not stay current with what they have been up to recently... many songs were the first time we heard them... turns out they are still great and yes we will buy the Album.. Casino Rama needs better pedestrian traffic control - ushers interupted a few songs for extended periods of time and people dancing in front of us needed 1 deoderant and 2 a litlle respect as far as viewing the show. Awesome Solo's by the way.. shared the spot light well!

    Black Crows were disappointing.....

by girlzee on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

We were very disappointed by the show at Casion Rama last night. We are huge fans of them, and could not believe that they only played for an hour, and never sang too many of their old hits! We payed for better seats for this venue, and felt like we were just at a jam session. They are a great band, but we did not feel like they performed their best. Casion Rama was a nice place, our first visit there.

    Great Sound!!!

by Canasian on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

This was my first time going to a concert at Casino Rama. The sound there was amazing!!! I was a bit disappointed in the length of the show as it was only 1 hour 20mins long. I was also disappointed in the fact that they didn't play Hard to Handle or some of their other more famous songs like Sister Luck and Seeing Things. They did however, play She Talks to Angels and Remedy but that wasn't until the encore. Chris Robinson sounded amazing and right on point!!! He's starting to look a tad old around the eyes but the show was great nonetheless. I was a tad disppointed in the fact that there wasn't any banter with the audience either. All in all, it was an awesome sounding show. I was just disppointed in some of the material they chose.

    Black Crows come up short

by Name on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

The Black Crows concert last night at Casino Rama was entertaining, however, given that they are a decent jam band, the length of the concert was extremely disappointing. We drove from Toronto to Orillia to see a 1.5hr concert ... not worth it - anything less than 2 hours is unacceptable!!! I'd like to know if the length of the show was because of the band itself or a time limit placed on concerts by Casino Rama.

    by Nickiedana2 on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

The Black Crowes Still know how to put on a great show after more then 10 years i havnt seen them live until lastnight was very very impressed with the their performance as well with the Venue they played at , which was Casino Rama in Orillia Ont, This concert Venue helped us save some cash by having a Shuttle Bus Safely pick us up from our hotel & drop us back off after the night of play , in which we saved over $80.00 in cab fare!!! The band has put together a great set for the show including lots of old hits like ( she talks to Angles) & with lots of new stuff that i wasnt at all familier with but found to Enjoy everysingle tune they played from their new genre of style, as with the fabulous encore at the end of the show & in closing the show with REMEDY!! I WILL sooo SOO go back to see the guys when they return to Ontario & B t w NOT a BAD Seat in the house & SOUND was Great!! What more can I say !! was a Great Night to Remember!! Thanks again!

    Black Crowes were forgettable

by Ralphette on 2009-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

The guitars/instruments were excellent. We were not impressed with the length of the concert (under 1.5 hr), I did not like the singers voice, and there was NO interaction with the audience. I got the feeling that these guys weren't enjoying themselves. I found the "fans" rude. Meaning that many of them were still arriving @ 930 pm or later and they kept getting up and leaving and then returning constantly interupting the hard core fans.
