This is the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life, and not offensive in the least......
Very funny. My daughter also thought it was funny.
So so so great. Took my 70 year old mother who absolutely loved it. We were laughing right from the start!!!
Book of Mormon was an outstanding show. It's funny and thought-provoking, though extremely crude. Performances were energetic and on-point. Unfortunately, the Bank of America theatre is awful. Seats aren't staggered or angled, and you'll be looking at the back of the head in front of you. I sat in the second row of the dress circle, in a seat that was the most expensive category, and couldn't see anything except the patron in front of me. Additionally, there were no provisions for disabled guests to access the full theatre and there is ONE bathroom. At the end of intermission, there were still dozens of people in line to use the restroom, and staff were yelling at people to move them along. I would never pay to see a show at this venue again.
I'm a huge fan of South Park as it is but the Book of Mormon blew me away! The cast was amazing. The songs were fantastic. It was all around a phenomenal musical, I totally see why it's won so many awards! Definitely a must see!
Loved it, loved the music, loved the acting. It was truly funny and well written. I'd highly recommend it to anyone! Some might be offended but it is so funny if you have an open mind and aren't offended by religious jokes. It's absolutely hilarious and yes it pokes fun at the mormon religion, the writers grew up in this religion so they know it best! Explicit language so be warned!
Excellent play - very funny!! Great music and very entertaining.
Thoroughly enjoyed the show but frustrated with the actual seats , someone in three rows ahead of us would sit forward,,,,then all of us whined him could not see the middle of the stage,,,taller people as well
Great show! The entire cast was fantastic - expecially Ben Platt!
This play is too sacrilegious and vulgar to recommend. There are many comic moments, but it is uncomfortable to laugh at times. I certainly would not want my parents nor children to see this performance.
Southpark writers have created more of their usual offensive material, intended to shock some audience members. We didn't find the material funny, rather it is sad that Book of Mormon is a successful musical. Female genital mutilation, murder and a racist portrayal of Ugandans are not funny, guys. We are liberal, educated theatre goers and wanted to walk out of this performance. The singing and dancing are very good, but on the whole this production gets a "worst thing I have paid to watch" rating. Warnings about the show's content were completely inadequate. We would not recommend this musical to anybody.
We bought our tickets well over a year ago to see this show, and it definitely did not disappoint. Our seats were amazing, and I didn't stop laughing the entire show. It ruined my makeup because of the tears from laughing.... which is the best kind of show!
The show was full of laughs & great performers! Enjoyed the creative set designs as well!
...unless you're easily offended! I'm not big on musicals, but this show is hilarious! You won't regret seeing it, just have an open mind!
We saw the show in Chicago this weekend. We can't remember when I laughed so much. Its a great musical...do not miss it.
Possibly the funniest play I have ever seen, and I have needed to have my laughing-shoes re-soled on quite a few occasions over the years. There are dreadfully witty lyrics; there are delightfully inappropriate dance numbers (earnest missionaries doing syncopated bell-ringing whilst smiling insanely); there are send-ups of war-lords, over-exuberant religious piety, and amphibious assault. There is even a message, a deeper meaning. Even though this message is brazenly strutted about near the end I suspect many people, especially those who picket rather than watch, will miss it. It is a brilliant message. It explains the growth of the Mormon Church and the very existence of religion on this, and every other, planet. And there are close-cropped haircuts! And tap-dancing prophets. And baptism jokes! Something for the whole family!
