About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

  • Concert on vacation

by JETT on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

We attended the Chicks concert in Toronto. We were to the left of the stage. Enjoyed the music but the speakers loudness took away our enjoyment of the concert as Maren Morris and the Chicks words were hard to decipher. The Scotia Bank Arena is a great venue and easily accessible for parking or Amtrak.

  • The Chicks know how to entertain

by Kat on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Merin Morris opened to an almost full house and not a single person was disappointed to show up for the opening act. She was out standing and sounded incredible. The music played during setup of The Chicks stage was a lot of fun. The entire crowd sang along to What’s going on by the 4 non-blondes. Lots of fun! The Chicks started their set with gaslighter which set the stage (pun intended). They rocked, they rolled and they shut the place down. Great vocals, band, sound, interaction with the crowd and overall fun - left you with that feel good feeling.

  • Phenomenal

by ShivRJac on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Chicks put on a phenomenal performance. They were easy to understand, and the emotion they exuded with each song was absolutely touching. I loved every bit of their concert, as well as Maren Morris' performance.

  • Amazing Event

by Tania on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The sounds was amazing, the venue was great and of course The Chicks were fantastic. My third time seeing them over twenty years, best experience yet!

  • Incredible

    by K8lyn on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Marren Morris opened for The Chicks and she was amazing. Would have paid the ticket price just to see her! Then The Chicks came out and man did the deliver an incredible show! Lots of new songs mixed with their classic Anthems that brought us all there. Their voice and their ability to play so many instruments. Great night.

  • Lookup their Setlist

    by TheKid81 on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I found it very helpful to lookup their current concert Setlist so you know what to expect - new and old songs. Great concert!

  • Excellent show

by David on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Chicks were very good musically. I appreciate they are not afraid to express their social & political opinions. Sound was very good indeed (for the headliner, not so great for opening act). They played for a solid 2 hrs, no encore likely due to another major act being up the next night. I'm sure the roadies were hard at work immediately after they left the stage. Sound was as good as I've heard in an arena setting. Nicely done.

  • An amazing experience!

by Tyler on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first ever "big"concert. I had never been to a stadium sized event before and it was an absolute blast. Maren Morris was incredible and The Chicks... WOW. So freaking amazing. They sound better live than on their albums. I left running high on adrenaline. It was an experience I will never forget. Also, the staff at the Scotiabank Arena were fantastic; kind, professional, and helpful. I can't wait to come back!

  • Great concert

by CJ on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Chicks are back and as good as ever. Great show with some of the old favourites mixed in with their new songs from the "Gaslighter"album. Still tackling the tricky subjects head on - gun violence, anti-LGBT2Q+, political gaslighting, women's rights. Bravo!!

  • A section for older people!

by Nana on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Didn’t see much. Everyone stood and danced the whole night. Had to sit down. Too old for that - and the screens weren’t high enough so couldn’t even watch the show on them. Chicks are definitely great.

  • Excellent show

by Tracy on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Chicks put on a great show! I’ve been to multiple shows this year and they were 1 of my top favourite artists. I would go see them again for sure!!

  • Great Musicians - Mixed Show

by Nipsy Celine on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The musicianship, video camera work and sound were terrific. Their catalogue of music is also terrific. However, the show somewhat missed being top-drawer, despite the great talent and great songs. Show cadence, clunky flow between songs, wooden stage banter (none from the sisters) and an awkward and odd reference to the prime minister being attractive and single; all created for a mediocre total experience and an energy that never quite peaked. The band has been playing together for years, which makes for a polished sound and should have made for a polished show. Unfortunate, as The Chicks could up their live game easily if they bought into fixing the gaps. And yes, we left with three songs left feeling we'd be missing nothing.

  • Incredible experience

by Laura on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What a show! I sang, I danced, I cried, I got chills. Definitely a memorable experience.

  • Childhood dreams come true

by Maegan on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve waited for 20 years to see them in concert and my dream finally came true! Excellent view from the seats, audio was perfect and the girls were AMAZING!

  • Mediocre

by The Chicks on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

We felt like they never really coalesced. It felt disjointed. The opening group was fantastic! But then there was an endless wait for the Chicks to come on. This time was filled with videos of female led bands. Good idea in theory but in reality it went on for WAY too long. By the time the Chicks hit the stage, my enthusiasm for the whole event was waning and it never did return. Sadly, it was disappointing. We’ve seen them numerous times and this was the worst. It was too bad because we had really been looking forward to seeing them.

  • The Chicks

by Dave on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Probably one of the best concerts Ihave ever seen. They are as good live as they are on record.

  • Such a good time

by The Chicks are AMAZING on 2023-09-21Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen the chicks back when they had Dixie attached to their name. They were amazing then, and it's just getting better. I love that they stand up for their beliefs and are trying to encourage and empower women. I will continue to go see them and support them. Concert was so good!!!

  • The Chicks rocked Toronto

The Chicks show was amazing! They certainly played all their hits and the whole stadium was singing along! I’ve seen them many times and they always rock it!

Excellent Performance but too much heavy material for a night out!
