About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

  • Chicks Still Rock!

by dennya on 2013-11-12Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

From the moment they took the stage the Dixie Chicks had everyone in the coliseum on their feet. At first taken aback by Natalie's "new look" there was no doubt once she opened her mouth that her talent remains as incredible as ever. Similarly Martie and Emily are a vocal and musical force to be reckoned with playing the daylights out of their instruments on a level that puts them in league with anything Nashville has to offer. The Chicks may have been absent for a while but their musical prowess has not suffered as a result! They still know how to command a venue with their pitch perfect voices, countless hits, crowd appeal and rip roaring good time manner. With 20 songs making up the show and a three-song encore, nobody in their right mind left disappointed! Opening act Charlie Mars provided a great intro to the Chicks getting the whole audience on their feet with his laid-back, aw shucks, "i've hit the big time" opening set which he captured with the audience's help on his cellphone from the stage!

  • Dixie Chicks were amazing!

What an amazing concert! The energy was incredible, you couldn't help but get up and dance and sing along through the whole concert!

A great evening of music and singing. These ladies can sing and play multiple instruments beautifully. They are so talented. I am glad I got to see them live. What a treat!!

  • Dixie Chicks are great ambassadors for Texas.

by amungus on 2013-11-12Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible music. One or two songs were a bit loud for my aging ears, but on an overall basis superb could be used as a descriptor. Country music does not know what they are missing. Powerful voice and harmony with a tremendous variety of instrumental flow. Hope they come again soon. Hamilton Place or Massey Hall in Toronto would be tremendous venues, but would mean fewer band members.

  • Dixie chicks top notch

by Veroniquea on 2013-11-12Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Hands down one of the best shows I've ever been to. Any music fan will appreciate the level of talent this band has. You cannot truly appreciate how tight this band is until you see them live. They are true musicians who perform for the love of the art. Highly recommend.

  • Dixie Chicks were amazing !!!

by CKDM on 2013-11-12Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Dynamic energy from start to finish...2 hours of Chicks music, from their beginnings, right through the George Bush debacle, and their triumphant return to the top of the charts...the show was tight and together...and unforgettable!!! I would see them again in a heartbeat.

Absolutely amazing. Even better live than their albums (not to knock their albums!)

  • Dixie Chicks were okay

by Kruzn on 2013-11-12Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 3 out of 5

Dixie Chicks were entertaining but a lot of rock; enjoy their country songs better. Crowd was wild. Lots of young people who were drunk; one guy fell down on top of us. Two girls in front of us were making out the whole time; drunk as well; loud and boisterous! Disgusting! I wouldn't go again. but not because of the entertainment. Couldn't see the stage unless we stood up because everyone stood for the whole show. Disappointing evening. Guess too old for wild concerts!

  • Dixie chicks was incredible! Enjoyed every minute!

    by 3countryGIRL3 on 2013-11-12Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

I would have to say the only complaint would have been about the venue. The lineups for beer and drinks were ridiculous. I have never waited so long to get drinks. Also I wish they brought beer up to the 200s level not just 100s. I did not want to get up and leave the concert to get a beer and potentially miss a good song. Dixie chicks were incredible though. Loved the concert.

  • Dixie Chicks starting to show their age

    by KDL1 on 2013-11-12Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 3 out of 5

The songs were there, but the set looked cheep and the girls lacked energy. Making us wait an hour didn't help while they played 80's rock videos. It seams they still have a huge fan base ( myself included) as a lot of people crossed the border just to see them. I guess they are still not ready to make nice and tour in the U.S.
