About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

  • Dixie Chicks

by wicngrampy on 2013-11-05Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Not a big fan of the Rexall for events but made an exception for the Dixie Chicks. Fantastic show - they really seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as I was. Exceptional musical talent and Natalie Maines voice - wow!! She was born to sing. On another note...what's up with the amazingly rude people standing in front their seat dancing through the entire show? Come on ushers / security - ask them to either sit down or go to the floor where people were dancing without disturbing those of us who actually wanted to watch the show.

I really enjoyed this concert and glad to see the ladies playing together again. Hopefully they churn out another album as the Dixie Chicks!! They played a great set list from albums from their start until their last one. Great sound, great atmosphere!

  • Chicks Not Just Whistling Dixie!

    by Gunner4Life on 2013-10-31Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I love the Dixie Chicks! I didn't even know this until I saw them in concert, and don't consider myself a big country fan!! I started liking them with Goodbye Earl and Landslide but had no idea how great they were. They have great energy, are amazing musicians, and have enough rock to roll over the country waves.

  • Effortlessly Good!

by kvaccari on 2013-10-31Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

They sound just as good live as they do on their album. Definitely a low budget show though in terms of lights and staging, etc.

I was so amazed at their fan base in Vancouver after such a long time gone! The Chicks rocked the stadium. Everyone was up in their seats. My favorite tune was "Landslide"

Even though I don't know a lot of their music they entertained me the whole time. Don't know the back ups name but he didn't get the crowds attention.

  • Great concert, can't wait for the next one!

by lksajdfdiue on 2013-10-30Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the Dixie Chicks concert! It was very nostalgic and they played a lot of oldie but goodies. It would have been nice to have a bit more dialogue from the girls but they were focused on packing in lots of songs. Loved it.

  • Dixie Chicks....hohum

by Anonymous on 2013-10-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

I was expecting more interaction with the audience and perhaps a few more songs. The acoustics were terrible and it was hard to hear the girls when they were talking between songs.

  • Dixie Chicks Rock

by pattikins on 2013-10-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I went to the Dixie Chicks with my sister and two daughters and we had an absolutely fantastic time. We stood up cheering their entrance onto the stage and never sat down for the rest of the concert. We sang to the first song and every song after until they left. Vancouver we did a fantastic job of welcoming them back!!!!!!!
