About

Since forming in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, The Chicks (formerly knowns as "Dixie Chicks") have gone on to become one of the most successful female groups in music history, selling millions of albums worldwide, embarking on record-breaking tours and earning numerous industry awards. The group's original lineup consisted of sisters Martie and Emily Erwin, bassist Laura Lynch and guitarist Robin Lynn Macy. The Chicks released their debut album Thank Heavens for Dale Evans in 1990—an infectious mix of bluegrass and back-to-basics country. After extensive touring, the group returned with Little Ol' Cowgirl in 1992, soon followed by 1993's Shouldn't a Told You That. By the time of the group's major-label debut, Wide Open Spaces, released in 1998, The Chicks' lineup had settled to include Martie and Emily Erwin along with new member Natalie Maines. Wide Open Spaces was a smash hit for the trio, containing the chart-topping songs "I Can Love You Better," "There's Your Trouble" and "Wide Open Spaces." The Chicks won numerous awards for Wide Open Spaces, including a Horizon Award and Best Vocal Group from the Country Music Association as well as a Grammy for Best Country Album. 1999 saw the release of the multi-platinum album Fly yielding the hit singles "Ready to Run" and "Goodbye Earl." The group returned to a more roots-y sound with 2002's Home, full of acoustic guitars, fiddles and stunning vocal harmonies. After a four year wait, the group released Taking the Long Way in 2006. Featuring the talents of legendary producer Rick Rubin along with an all-star lineup of collaborators and co-songwriters, the rock-meets-country album was another huge success for the trio.

    best concert ever

I love the chicks. They really ignited my passion for hearing live music. They were amazing and I’m so happy that they use their platform to speak on issues that matter. I didn’t even know all the songs they played but now I listen to them all the time!!! In my opinion, they played enough of their classics, I have no idea what half of these people in the reviews are complaining about. Their set list was great and I can’t wait until they come back!

Could have been great, but it wasn’t

by Pep on 2023-10-17Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

The Chicks sounded AMAZING there’s no doubt about that, however, the show was not what I was expecting. The sound quality was simply awful, anywhere you were in the stadium, it seemed the music was too loud and drowning out the vocals. Next was the song selection. I know they were touring their latest released album, but they did not play nearly enough of their classics which is 300% what the crowd came to see. They played probably the entire new album, and sprinkled in some songs from their old albums which sucked because we wanted to hear the older stuff. They also went on a political tangent for I think 5 songs back to back, where it was just politically motivated songs that were all really slow/depressing. Now, I love when musicians take a stand and use their platform to send a message, HOWEVER, I don’t appreciate going to a concert to escape the real world for a few hours, and being bombarded with songs that talk about all the BS happening in the world that I came to the concert to escape! I love The Chicks, but I was disappointed in the show I got. They didn’t play a good chunk of their old songs which is what the crowd came to see, and it felt like the songs they did play were just to throw a bone to the crowd. Overall I give it a 3/5 because they sounded fantastic (when I could hear them since the sound was garbage), but it simply was not what I spent several hundred dollars on tickets to see and I was unfortunately disappointed. Love The Chicks, did not love this show🤷🏽‍♀️.

I don't know how they do it, but they sound as good today as the day I first heard their music. Unbelievable talent! The show was fantastic - great vibe throughout the venue and a lot of fun. Would highly recommend snagging the opportunity to see them live, you will not be disappointed!

It was overall great, but it was a shame that we couldn’t pay to upgrade our seats and the washroom lime up was insane!

    The Chicks are amazing musicians

by LLS on 2023-09-25Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

Unfortunately there was something off with the sound, because Natalie's voice seemed very sharp and hard to listen too. Maybe the sound system or maybe the venue, I'm not sure. That being said I love The Chicks. I saw them last time at Budweiser Stage and the show was amazing

My partner and I enjoyed the show..of what we saw! We are sold a ticket that provides us with a seat..although you can't see the show due to rude double digit IQ people (or Aliens) that have to stand and block your view. Is there no respect anymore... I feel that the major arenas and theatres should sell standing room spots and seats where people can sit and enjoy a show...very disappointing! The same happens elsewhere..not just Saskatoon. Maybe we'll just pass on going to another show! Bah..Humbug!
