Jesus Lizard reunion tight as before the break up
by mingemouth on 2009-11-22The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5Most intense show I've been to in a long time. Never have I seen a man nearing 50 fling himself into a crowd to crowdsurf while not missing a beat or word. The band was incredibly tight and I'm a bit sad I will probably never get to see them play a show again. Would have been happy to pay $40 to have seen this. Way better than Them Crooked Vultures.
YAY!
by yowlover on 2009-11-13The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5David Yow stole the show. He jumped on the crowd repeatedly. It was very high energy. You wouldn't think these guys are as old as they are. I can now die happy.
Jesus Lizard as good as they ever were.
by jonottanyeah on 2009-10-25Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5Always scary wen a fave band who's been apart for ten years or more gets back together for a tour; You don't want the new gig to wreck the awesomeness of the ones in your memory as some of the best ever. The Haloween show Jesus Lizard did in the early 90's was unforgettable and subsequent gigs of theirs were always very intense as well. So even if they'd come out last night and we're only half as intense as they're were a decade ago, they still would've been better than most - inda like the Butthole Surfers were a few weeks ago. But there was nothing missing from last night's Jesus Lizard gig. Tighter and punchier than ever, it was like there was no time lost. David Yow wasted little time before jumping into the crowd and never let up. They even played 2 encores. The sound was a little messed and I'd say that was the only minus I'd give the show; otherwise, they played everything I wanted to hear and didn't tarnish my memories of their legendary gigs from the 90s. Hopefully they keep going!
