About

What started as the RPM Gold Leaf Awards in 1964 by RPM editor and publisher Walt Grealis and record label executive Stan Klees, soon became The JUNO Awards in 1971.  Named in tribute to Pierre Juneau, the first chairperson of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the JUNO Awards were founded to raise the public profile and recognition of musical artists in Canada.

The JUNO Awards has evolved from an industry awards event to a weeklong festival that travels city to city across the country. It encompasses both public-facing fan events and industry/networking opportunities featuring a diverse array of Canadian artists and emerging talent. In addition to The JUNO Awards Broadcast, JUNO Week event programming includes JUNO Songwriters' Circle, JUNOfest, JUNO Fan Fare, JUNO Cup, and more.

In 2002, The JUNO Awards went on the road to take the music to the fans and expanded its scope to include a series of public and private events outside of the Awards broadcast. Each host city has embraced their opportunity to support the JUNO Awards and build an enduring legacy of music programs in their market.

    Rogers Place Security

by Leanne on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

Wonderful event, great sound, "jumbo trons" way too small ... but what happened to security? Thankfully crazy topless lady was not there to do harm and shout out to Avril for the performance of the night but that could have gone sideways in a second. It will affect my thoughts on seeing another event at Rogers.

    Very fun!

by Ken on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

I loved attending the Junos. The only part that I thought could be improved was that there was a light that was shining directly at me for the entire show. Other than that, so fun. I'd go again.

Was a decent night out for a decent price

    by T. L. on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

The show went by extremely fast, performances were all pretty good. Nickelback was definitely the highlight but the performance was extremely short. I will say we do not have many big name Music stars in Canada and the ones that are big were not scheduled to perform or be there which a makes for a lack luster show.

    Disappointing

by Dawn on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

Disappointing that so few awards were actually handed out at the event. Also, the screens were very small so it was hard to see the performers.

    Junos Mar 13 2023

by GMM on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

Can’t say I was much impressed. My friend Joy felt much the same way. The ceremony was hosted by Shang Chi actor Simu Liu. He tried to be funny, but really wasn’t. Only 5 Junos given out, the other 35 were given mention but were awarded at another ceremony at the Edmonton Convention Centre on Saturday & I have no clue how tickets to that event we’re available to the public. Nickelback were inducted into Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Well deserved. Connor McDavid introduced the band and he got thunderous applause, the most of anyone there! Nickelback closed the evening & their short performance was outstanding. And of course their was the topless protestor that interrupted Avril Lavigne’s introduction early in the start to one band. She handled it very well. Security obviously too lax. We were in the nosebleeds, and the biggest screen was way to small for 2/3 of attendees to see. I don’t know why the big arena screen was not used. That was very disappointing. It felt like we were in a production set for the 2 hr CBC TV special, and the fans were the extras. A lot of time was devoted to the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop music in Canada. Of course, I was never into Hip Hop or Rap music. I can now say I’ve been to a Junos!

    Impressive

by Shelley on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

I thought the performances were world class entertainment. The show was outstanding, the stage setup was impressive. Proud of Edmonton! That's all that needs to be remembered. Edmonton rocks and the love and support Albertans shows to their own. Connor, Teneille and Nickelback is wonderful. We are proud of their accomplishments! Hats off to the Junos. I loved the show and the TD booth. So glad I got a photo holding a Juno.

    Great!!!

by Handsome Dave on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the JUNOs. It was a very nice to showcase Edmonton . It was great to support Canadian artists. I loved the positive vibe throughout the whole evening. Rap and hip hop is definitely not my thing but I still cheered along… happy for the artists’ successes. I am looking forward to when Edmonton can host the JUNOs again.

    A great experience but expensive

by ttfish on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

First time attending a live award show. It was fun. However, the bright headlight from the stage shinning down directly into the audience is very distracting and painful to the eyes. This needs to stop.

    Juno’s

by Sammybuca on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

The JUNO Awards were awesome, so happy to be part of this event! There was even unexpected entertainment, when a topless lady ran up on stage. Just wondering why security took so long to apprehend her?

    Juno 2023 review

by Dawn on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

Looks like there was a lot of work put into the Junos, wow the crowd was there but I have to say for it being the Canadian Juno awards it was a little disappointing. We were a group four and all agreed that we were happy we didn’t pay any more for our tickets. We have such a variety of music out there, where we all the wonderful performances, congratulations to all who did perform and to all nominees and winners. Just thinking out of the box for a second, Canada has so many wonderful musicians where we’re they on Monday March 13th that they were not on the stage to present maybe, sing a tune.

Great last minute added side stage seats

    by S. W. on 2023-03-16Rogers Place - Edmonton

Got seats late as I seen seats were added in level 1 side of the stage. It was really close and seen the performances very well. Everything went well from parking to sitting down for event. Was hoping to pick up a t-shirt, but no merchandise lol. That is ok. Had a great time!!!
