The first half was confusing and lacklustre. The second half picked up and was much better. Lots of children and sick people in the audience which was very distracting. Orchestra was very quite from the first row of the first balcony.
The performance was wonderful. The dancers are brilliant and the live symphony just gave the whole performance another great reason to watch it again. The only con is that it was too short!
It was my first time to watch Ballet Nutcracker, which was worthy and exciting.
The orchestra was just phenomenal but the ballet left us a bit disappointed. There wasn't much WOW factor. I went to the Nutcracker years ago and I just loved it. This year there were four of us who went and we all felt the same way - the orchestra is fabulous but the ballet was not.
This event has been running long enough that the organizers know how to treat their target audience, which audience is somewhat different than their usual market. Lots of activities for the kids before the show, lots of drink options for the adults, everything actually runs on time, etc. There's lots of big name acts that could learn a thing or three from this event. Great value, spectacular venue and the show is a true treat for the senses. It's a fine way to get in the Christmas spirit. This was my third time at the event and I will surely be going to the next one. Bravo, Alberta Ballet!
I took my 6 year old daughter to this for the first time and she loved it. I felt it was a wonderful production and held her interest the whole time. (which is amazing)
Very elegant and beautiful- a classic ballet. The kids did a fantastic job. The second act is my favorite. Beware of parking at the Jube. It took 20 minutes to get out. Either take Uber, ETS, or park and walk to a local place for dinner.
The show was wonderful as always! I love the story and the dancers always do an incredible job! Great job to the child dancers! You all looked like you completely belonged on that stage!
It’s my first time to watch a ballet show and lucky enough to watch the nutcracker and have it as part of my holiday tradition. I am not very familiar with the story of the nutcracker which may be the reason why I find it difficult to comprehend what is happening in the act. In spite of this, I was really amazed on the performance of the cast! When I got home, I read the storyline and then it gave me some clarity. All in all, I enjoyed the ballet show! It’s an unforgettable experience and truly one for the books.
