This was from a previous review, I got the date wrong on when the phantom of the opera was here in Edmonton and Calgary, it wasnt 2018, it was 2017, have the ticket stub when it was, so my bad but I stand by my previous review, it was awesome!!!
When I saw the play in Edmonton back in 2018, it was amazing, I knew some of the music and interested in seeing it. I had such a great time that I went to Calgary afterwards and took my mom so she could experience it. I wish it would come back to Edmonton again like the Lion king did just this year. One day I hope I can experience this play again, just great that I got to experience this play when it was here.
This production was the best we’ve seen! Spectacular set, incredible voices, fantastic orchestra ... excellent!
First time seeing The Phantom of the Opera, and it wont be the last. It was a magical experience for the senses.
I love the Phantom of the Opera. I had seen the movie dozens of times, but until recently I had never seen a live performance of it. I brought my mother with me who had seen an earlier production of it and she was blown away by this one. I was mesmerized the whole time. I love seeing live theatre as I'm always curious how the production crew will handle big ideas in a small space. Boy did the company ever outdo themselves! The set design was incredible! As for the play itself, it was 5/5. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would recommend it to everyone. Bravo!
Really enjoyed the performance. Very polished. Worth the trip from Canada just to see this version of the Phantom.
The performance was brilliant. There were some noticeable changes in the set design....the Phantom's lair is missing the large organ; and instead of Christine grabbing his mask off of his face...he removed it and proceeded to go to the mirror to dab his face...it was less dramatic and I feel they need to bring that back. The Masquerade Ball was great, in place of the grand staircase there is now a domed glass ceiling...wonderful. The chandelier is not nearly as grand as the original one that had a lot of glittery facets and sparkled more....it lost some of the effect when it fell because of this...all in all despite the changes it was a very good performance. I would not recommend purchasing the Intermezzo Lounge admittance...we were early and the hors doevres were fringe at best, the phyllo pastry hors doeuvres were already smooched together and everything looked rather unappetizing....when did croissants and lobster bisque become hors doeuvres? The hors doeuvres need some serious revamping...canapes would have been more appropriate....The seating inside this lounge is uncomfortable at best...tall top chairs and hard seating everywhere and certainly not enough for the number of people....the outside patio though is wonderful....Lounges are meant to be inviting comforting places not hard and cold. I wouldn't purchase entrance again.
i have seen phantom 4 times. this one did not dissapoint. the singing was very good
I seen the Phantom in NY 14 years ago and loved it just as much as I did then. What a wonderful experience.
This is the fourth time I have seen Phantom, and by far the best casting of Phantom and Christine - and the bonus is the Pantages Theatre...what a treat.
