The Detroit Opera House was an amazing setting for the Phantom of the Opera. It was an awesome performance and everything ran smoothly. We parked in the Opera House parking garage (however was pricey at $20) could have parked in offsite lots just as close for $10 or less. We had a wine and cheese platter at the Cadillac Restaurant in the Opera House and then had champagne during the performance. It was a perfect evening that ended with fireworks as we exited from the neighboring Comerica Park (Detroit Tigers) They have fireworks every Friday night... A magical evening!
This wsa one of the best plays I have ever seen, my girlfriend and I really enjoyed the play, I seen it twice, yesterday was the first time she has ever seen and she really loved it.
My daughter's eyes lit up the whole time. The cast was excellent as well as the venue (as always) . For anyone wishing to pursue theatre or singing, this is a must see evet.
A wonderful performance last night was seen by many at the Detroit Opera House, a fitting place for the Phantom. Spectacular sets, costumes, orchestra, pyrotechnics, and many great performers. A few off notes and some lighting spots were out of position (or maybe the actors missed their spots), but most people probably didn't notice these little glitches as the cast has brought a wonderful rendition of the Phantom to Detroit. If you haven't bought tickets yet, you must. You will thoroughly enjoy it. I know the group I went with certainly did.
My mother and I attended this show-- My mother hates musicals and Operas, and I love them. Both of us had a fantastic time. The play is dynamic and engaging-- we were completely glued to the performance the entire first act with our snacks untouched! I particularly was awe-struck by the sets and stage dynamics. The splendid effects will have even Opera-haters (like my mother) entranced! The singing was sharp, clear, and breathtaking, and the acting was lovely-- especially the last scenes of the Phantom's. All in all, recomended to go! Tip: The first few nights there are coupons!
I am 28 years old and last saw this show in Toronto when I was 12. I have wanted to see it ever since. My husband and I caught the afternoon show as we were driving through Minneapolis. The theatre area is charming, with a few restaurants and coffee shops. The staff at the Orpheum Theatre were very pleasant. I have to say, even though the performance I saw when I was 12 was a stationary, broadway production, this one came very close to matching it in terms of vocals, special effects, costumes, props, set design etc. I was curious as to how they would do it, but they did! I wold definitely see this show again if it ever came back.
An excellent presentation of a classic show. We had the privilege of bringing two of our friends that are fanatical Phantom fans, one 17 yrs of age and the other in mid thirties. The were in awe of the staging and of the music presentation. Definitely a must see show.
For the third time I sat enthralled by the music, staging and performance of what I consider the greatest stage production of all time. My daughter and I travelled 500 miles to enjoy the "Phantom" experience. The characters come alive on stage and you become immersed in a time unknown in this day and age. The musical brilliance sends shivers down your spine. Everyone should have the opportunity to experience the Phantom. Three times is not enough. I would see it again and again and again!!!
