The Sound of Animals Fighting is a post-hardcore supergroup founded by Rich Balling of Rx Bandits. Following a 15-year hiatus, the band returned in 2022 with a new EP and a series of live shows across North America.

When The Sound of Animals Fighting began performing in 2004, the band's revolving cast of musicians, which featured several members of SoCal ska-punk rockers turned prog-rockers Rx Bandits, would wear animal masks to conceal their identity onstage. They took it a step further, listing only animal names in the credits of their 2005 debut album, The Tiger and the Duke, including the Walrus, the Armadillo, the Lynx, the Nightingale, the Ferret, the Hyena and more.

After releasing the albums Lover, the Lord Has Left Us... in 2006 and The Ocean and the Sun in 2008, the band took a lengthy break and returned in 2022 with the announcement of a new EP, Apes***, and an extensive U.S. tour in early 2023. The Sound of Animals Fighting Live in Concert

The Sound of Animals Fighting is an American rock supergroup founded by Rich Balling of Rx Bandits and also led by vocalist Anthony Green. During the band's initial run, they released a trilogy of records between 2004 and 2008, and performed only four live shows following their second album release in 2006.

The band is a rotating musical collective much like Broken Social Scene whose lineup changes from time to time, and their mysterious identity has been enhanced by members who wear animal masks and go by various animal monikers, but was later revealed.

After a 15-year hiatus from 2008 until 2022 during which time they were largely inactive, The Sound of Animals Fighting announced a new EP, Apes***, released on Born Losers Records in 2022, as well as an extensive U.S. tour.
