The Sound of Music was extraordinary!

by EsqChick75 on 2017-09-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I was very intrigued with how the props and backdrops changed between scenes without taking away from the performance that continued to the next scene. I also liked how large the detail was as well. I think no matter where I would have sat I could have felt like I was there with the performers. I thought the singing was amazing. No doubt, the entire cast studied the movie at great length and their timing with the orchestra was fabulous. Not having seen the movie for several decades, the show had me remembering in no time. Highly recommend this show to ages.

    Absolutely Incredible

One of the most well set musicals I have seen. I watch many musicals, but maybe because the Sound of Music is a movie that is dear to my heart- I had many more emotions, but the staging was perfect. The casting was perfect. The songs, the memories, everything came back at once- and it was just a complete masterpiece. Thank you so much for bringing it to Vancouver. I hope you guys come again. I would watch this again in a heartbeat!!

by Marijoan on 2017-09-17Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Sound of Music is my favourite movie and I wasn't sure what to expect with the stage production but it was fantastic! The story line flowed, the sets were beautiful, the characters well played and the singing! The singing was better than Phantom! The children were so adorable and so professional. I highly recommend this show!

Fabulous adaptation of the film for the stage

by Hols on 2017-09-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Enjoyed everything about this show - the actors portrayed their roles very well and the singing was excellent. Totally enjoyed the woman who portrayed Maria, the woman who played the Reverend Mother made us all gasp and applaud her amazing vocals, and the actors who played the children were fabulous. The stage was well done, scene changes were smooth and effective, great sound allowed us to hear every word and note, and the lighting was also well done. The show was tweaked to provide 3 new songs, the locales of some of the songs were changed, and some events were altered but overall the show stayed fairly true to the film we all know and love. A fun evening watching a musical that was well-produced and well-acted.

First time to see 'Sound of Music' live and it was absolutely fantastic. The singers were all great, costumes perfect and the scenery changes were spot one. This touring show was even better than the Phantom and I am a big fan of that show

Much Alive with The Sound of Music

by littleshepherd on 2017-09-15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Beyond amazing, words do not justify the experience I had. The actors were astounding, especially the children. Mother Abbess was a spectacular, she blew me every time she sang! One song was missing from the film, but try not to compare the two. If I could afford the tickets, I would see the show again!

    The whole show was spectacular!

by Marinelle on 2017-09-15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I really enjoyed the show from start to end. "The Sound of Music" which was introduced to us by my mother came alive when I watched the show last Tuesday. And it also inspired me to share the video where I played in violin and recorded the "Edelweiss", which was rated by my retired boss as "Excellent" when he first time heard me playing the violin. Maybe because I work in an IT World and yet I am playing violin. This is the result of my mother introducing us to the love of music specifically with the movie "The Sound of Music", which I still remember, she bought an LP, I bought a casette tape, I bought a VCD and now I bought a Cello Book which I started also to play the "Edelweiss", "Favorite Thing". Now I am looking forward to the weekend so I will be able to practice again the songs from my "The Sound of Music" Cello book. Congratulations to the whole production of the "The Sound of Music". God bless!

The Sound of Music was Heartwarming!!

by IreneP on 2016-04-20National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

The Sound Music performance was excellent, both the acting and the singing.Ben Davis as Georg Von Trapp and Kerstin Anderson as Maria and The Mother Abbesse. This musical crosses the generations! My Mom introduced me to it as a child and sang the songs to me. I did the same with my children. The songs themselves warm the heart. We went to a matinee. There were parents with their children all around us. This music was equally enjoyed by all age groups! A must see for all the family.
