    First experience at the NAC!!

by AmandaJ on 2016-04-19National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Seeing the 2pm performance of the sound of music on Saturday April 16th was my very first time at the national art centre. I just knew it was going to be amazing and that is why I bought a ticket to attend. My seat was on the Balcony in row A, seat 47 and it was a really good view for me. From the time it started until the moment it ended I was so enthralled by the amazing voices of the performers and the emotion in every scene. I both laughed and I cried happy tears. I will definitely be going back again if there is a Broadway musical coming that I want to see. I may see Cinderella in October and maybe even Kinky Boots. Thank you to the national art centre staff who were very nice and accomidating

I really enjoyed this production of the sound of music. The sets and the actors were amazing. I would go see it again if I could. It allowed me to see the story in a new light.

I was pleasantly surprised with how absolutely stunning this show was. I went in with moderate expectations and was completely blown away. The singing could not have been better. The acting was touching. And the chemistry among the cast members was truly special. Would absolutely recommend this show to anyone.

The Sound of Music was excellent!!

by krnka on 2016-04-19National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

The voices were absolutely beautiful and the set designs great. I was not happy that the audience was first addressed in French. I strongly feel that this is Ottawa not Quebec, English should be the first language not the second.

    Great show!

We've watched the movie "The Sound of Music" on many occasions over the years, so were a little concerned that the show would not be as impressive. We were wrong! The show was wonderful! We were particularly impressed with the performances by all the cast and the staging. Highly recommended!

    If you like musicals....

by MrBasics on 2016-04-17National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Now, I am a musician....for 53 years I have been taught, have taught, played professionally, teach music. I love music....on its own. I do not like musicals. This was a birthday gift evening, (dinner and a show), for my wife; she loves musicals. So this was special for her. She loves this story, the film, etc. Our seats right on the end of row F obscured part of our stage view due to placement of scenery props. The NAC venue where we were is under renovation so a trip to the men's room is a safari distance. Other than that, aside from all the stuffed shirts present, it was a pleasant evening.

    Sound of Music was spectacular!

by MomDaughterNightOut on 2016-04-16National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Was a fabulous musical. The singing was spot on - the Head Nun was stellar -- and the actors were animated and fun to watch. Even from the distance of the ampitheatre level. It was well worth the expense and a great night for us to spend together. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

    The Sound of Music

by issit on 2016-04-16National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

We enjoyed the Sound of Music very much and would recommend it. The Sound of Music is one of my favourite all time musicals. The music alone is worth going. They did not follow the exact flow of the movie ie. for the songs, etc., but it was still very good. I would have preferred that they stick to the original. I just think this musical is too famous to change anything about it. This is why I gave it a 4 and not a 5 star. Just the same, it was well worth seeing.
