Watchmen still rock the house
by WanderingPenguin on 2010-09-26The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5The Watchmen were one of my very favourite bands of the 1990s and I saw them live numerous times in their heyday. I've missed them since then - quite a bit - so I was pretty excited when I saw that they had reunited in 2008 for a reunion concert. Alas, I had to miss that one but they repeated the event last year and we were able to see them on the Saturday night - their last concert of the year, I think. They were fabulous, but certainly feeling the effects of having NOT toured for so long (for one thing, Danny was really losing his voice by the end of the show). However.... THIS year they were absolutely amazing. Powerful, confident, engaging and in full force all evening. The sound (for some reason) wasn't as sharp as it has been in the past, but that didn't detract much from the feel-good vibe of the year, for me. If you are a fan of this band do NOT miss them the next time they play.
The Watchmen, Simply Amazing
by Stetter on 2009-10-02The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5The Watchmen, they ALWAYS put on a GREAT SHOW! I`ve seen them in concert quite a few times. I have NEVER been disappointed . Every time I see them, the hair stands up on the back of my neck and I get goose bumps. With Daniel`s powerful vocals. Joey`s genius guitar playing. Ken`s rhythmic bass and Sammy`s drumming perfection. How can you go wrong? They still sound exactly the same way. Like they did back in 1992 when I first saw them. Can`t wait for the new album, and to see my favorite band play again. Cheers! The Watchmen RULE!!!! Along The Way!
Watchmen rock again
by Zaner on 2009-09-29The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5Lost track of how often I have seen them, but their show last week and the one almost 1 year ago to the day could have been 2 of their best ever. They played really well, had a couple of new songs that were excellent this time around and the two concerts felt completely different thanks to a huge variation in the set lists. I will go see them again next time they are in T.O. Oh yeah, the Horseshoe is awesome too.
They seemed tired...
by Watchmenfan on 2009-09-28The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5I've seen the Watchmen before, and they were unbelievable then. I was really looking forward to this concert, but it seems that they just weren't into it. I think they may have been drained from the Friday concert, but they should know if they can't do back to back shows, and shouldn't do them if they can't put in the effort required. All too often Danny relied on audience participation (once or twice is fine, but not half the song), and was out of key. He also switched to some lower voice instead of pushing the highs which caracterize many of the Watchen's songs...
I liked what I'm hearing!
by SweetC8 on 2009-09-28The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5Great show! They played all of my favorites (particularly loved "All Uncovered". I missed the last show they played @ the Horseshoe Tavern and vowed I wouldn't miss the next one. So glad I went!
FANTASTIC show!
by ShesElectric on 2009-09-28The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5Had never seen the Watchmen live before this - but have been a fan for 14 years! As much as I enjoy their cds, they are even better live! Great band, great venue — Hope to see them back again next year!
Watchmen ROCK!

The Watchmen Rocked!!
by SaritaShinigami on 2009-09-27The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5The show opened with a band called "Paper Lions". They play great music, I picked up their CD at the show and recommend everyone to do the same. The Watchmen come on stage around 11:35pm and started strong with "I'm Blind". They played some new songs "Trampoline" and a bunch of great old songs like "Zoom" "Boneyard Tree" Absolutely Anytime" "Stereo" and "Run & Hide". This is my first time going to The Horseshoe Tavern, it's a great venue. Very intimate, good sound and lots of The Watchmen fans!! I would do it again, in a heart beat.
Solid Show
by JFogz on 2009-09-27The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5Watchmen were awesome!! Just as fun as 7 years ago! Paper Lions (opening from PEI) were GREAT!!
great show!
by moey on 2009-09-27The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5I loved the show. Lots of old songs, a couple new songs! someone around where i was standing was very gassy, which was quite gross, but that wasn't the Watchmen's fault! I loved seeing the old drummer again and hope they start doing shows again on a more regular basis, hadn't seen them since Jan. /03, (there last show, they said) so feel thrilled to have seen them again. Does anyone know if they are "together again" or if it is really just a reunion tour?
Incredible!
by skiputz on 2009-09-26The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5This is my fourth time seeing The Watchman live and they NEVER disappoint! The small, intimate venue didn't stop the explosive sound and incredible performance by this unforgettable Canadian band. I booked my tickets online the second I found out they were on-sale - I waited months for this concert and wish I would have bought tickets for the Saturday night performance as well. Great sound, amazing stage presence, intimate lighting and a performance I will never forget. The first band Paper Lions were also fantastic - never heard them before but I will go out and buy their cd now - great warm up to an unforgettable show. Thanks to the Horseshoe Tavern for hosting such an amazing band - I hope (and WISH) they will perform there again. I left the evening thinking I wish the night wouldn't end - incredible show, just incredible! Well done!
good Watchmen show
by strems on 2009-09-26The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5Overall good show, played all the classics, and even some cool covers of James Taylor, REM, and Men at Work
THe Watchmen were awesome
by RB09 on 2009-09-26The Horseshoe Tavern - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5First time at the Horseshoe tavern and it was unforgetable! The Watchmen kicked ass as expected and Paper Lions p erformed well also.
The Watchmen still have it!
by Grandlethal on 2009-07-25WILDHORSE SALOON - CALGARYRating: 5 out of 5After not seeing a live show by these guys in over 10 years, it was refreshing to see the band back together and coming through my home away from home in Calgary (I grew up in the 'peg listening to these guys). Danny hasn't lost any ounce of his voice, and the rest of the band put on a very tight set. I really hope these guys tour a little more and maybe put out a reunion album or something. I was a little worried about the venue, but the crowd was good and sound was decent for an open area tented bar. Not much more I can say about it, just a solid and fun show.
Watchmen....together again
by kjonus on 2009-07-24WILDHORSE SALOON - CALGARYRating: 5 out of 5Been a fan since they started out some 10+ years ago. This show was like they have never missed a beat! To bad they couldn't have played longer into the nite. Played a new song that should be up on their website soon too.
Buckle Me In...
by TLMac on 2009-07-24WILDHORSE SALOON - CALGARYRating: 5 out of 5... on the Highway of Sin. The Watchmen are consistently great but never predictable. With old favourites and a few new songs, this was a concert to remember.
