    Wizard of oz

by BMBC on 2010-12-13Prospera Centre - Chilliwack

the play was very good. We did enjoy it. The costumes and makeup were great. The sound was perfect. The story kept very much to the original - nice THE VENUE WAS COLD - the chairs were hard plastic - uncomfortable. - good location was however a very tall gentleman was sitting in front of us making it difficult to see without shifting

    Amateur night

by Imatia on 2010-12-13Prospera Centre - Chilliwack

I was really looking forward to this event. A friend and I gifted one another with the tickets as a Christmas celebration together. The venue was poorly prepared for people with disabilities (although it was, indeed, accessible) - the ushers had no idea how to direct those of us that were in that category. Disappointing with much room for improvement. I must say that the elderly gent that assisted me was kind, supportive and willing - he simply hadn't been informed himself and we had to 'wing it'. The show was okay and the costumes were fantastic. I was dissapointed with the production until I realized that it was a community troupe and the actors were junior and intermediate level performers. They did a good job - I was simply not expecting this to be an amateur production. I don't appreciate that TicketMaster did not make this clear with the posting of the event. I felt the tickets were really expensive for the quality of the performance. I'll look more closely in the future and may have to do more investigating before I purchase tix.

Nothing was missed in this rendition of the wizard of oz. the funny added lines were great and kept it from sticking to close to the original. all the characters were great and hit their marks everytime. i would reccommend this highly to all age groups. It was an amazing and unforgettable time.

Wizard of Oz - bit of a let down

by PetePetePete on 2010-12-13Prospera Centre - Chilliwack

I love the Wizard of Oz but was pretty let down by this performance. It was a performance I would have expected from a high-school drama class, not a 'National Tour'. Definitely not worth $90 for a 7th row seat, worth about half that amount. Not to mention that the venue was NOT a good fit for a theatre event.

    wizard of oz

    by angels6 on 2010-12-13Prospera Centre - Chilliwack

The Wizard of Oz was very entertaining. Actress who played Dorothy good stage presence and voice. Lion was my favourite. Bad witch bad acting, no voice projection, poor makeup. Could see people on either wing walking back and forth, not set up correctly, could see people peeking out of the curtain. All in all enjoyed the show. Back drôp with tornado etc. very effective. Seats off to right. Difficult to see at times. Lighting issues because of mirrors used, at times blinding light.

Totally worth the drive to Chilliwack to watch this play. It was entertaining, the singing was breathtaking. Recommended for all age groups especially the younger generation.

Wizard of Oz was like a highschool play

by csrr on 2010-12-13Prospera Centre - Chilliwack

Wizard of Oz was definetly like a highschool play. Wouldn't recommend it at all unless you had kids. We left at intermission because it was so boring and from where we were sitting (which was supposed to be "the best" seats) we couldn't see what was happening on the left hand side of the stage. We thought it would be like some of the musicals we've seen at the QE or playhouse but on a bit of a smaller scale. Was more like watching your kids in their highschool play. For $70/ticket it was definetly overpriced and not worth it.

    Quickly forgotten.

by jeremyb on 2010-12-13Prospera Centre - Chilliwack

This is nothing more than a script from the 1939 movie, nearly word-for-word, with some scenes from the novel added in. The quality of the acting was very good. Its unfortunate their talent is wasted in this plain theatrical production. I was expecting something along the lines of the Musical, Wicked. It was just disappointing overall. We also had our 3 year old and 7 year old sons along. The 3 year fell asleep. Our 7-yr-old usually comes away from concerts, musicals or theater productions talking about it lively for weeks. He hasn't mentioned that he even went to the show since Dec.11. Our children see a lot of life theater with us, and there was just nothing that stood out; nothing special. We paid $76/seat, and we've all seen much better local productions for $10/seat. Set your expectations low for a normal musical, and you will find yourself liking this better.

    Great product, poor venue

by Anonymous on 2010-12-13Prospera Centre - Chilliwack

We really liked the show, but didn't like the large arena. We were seated on the floor, but found it hard to see the stage adequately with people sitting in front of us. We moved to a seat in the back, which we felt was a compromise for our 8 year old to see better. Recommend binoculars.

    Wonderful Wizard of Oz

by Michu on 2010-12-13Prospera Centre - Chilliwack

This was my first professional live show and while I have no bar set for excellence I must say that this show has definitely set the bar high for the next one. To be honest, I think that I would rather pay for a well done live show than go see a movie in a theater that I can rent later. Bravo to everyone involved with this show Thank you for the wonderful time.
