About

This will be the seventh time Calgary has played host to the Tim Hortons Brier, and the fourth time it’s been played at the Saddledome — the three previous visits to the Saddledome (curling capacity: approximately 19,000 seats) produced Alberta champions: Kevin Martin in 1997 and 2009, and Randy Ferbey in 2002. Calgary previously played host in 1948, 1961 and 1980.

The 1997 Brier featured the single-game attendance record for the event: 17,024.

The 2015 Tim Hortons Brier will also be notable as it will feature, for the first time, both a Team Canada entry — the winner of the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier in Kamloops, B.C. — as well as a pre-qualifying round that will determine the final 12-team field for the main round robin. Fifteen teams (the 14 Member Associations and Team) will be eligible to compete in the Tim Hortons Brier. Four teams will compete in the pre-qualifying round just before round-robin play begins to determine the final two entries. The format will be announced at a later date.

Awesome curling on Friday. Boring sometimes on Saturday during the game, boring definitely between games.

Curling: Might be Better on TV

by Sidann on 2013-03-12Rexall Place - Edmonton

It's hard to watch four games at once but when the playoffs came it was better. There is no commentary and you don't hear the players. The curling, however was spectacular. Whoever built the arena didn't care at all for the comfort of the patrons. On a comfort scale of 1-10 Rexall gets a big fat ZERO!

Curling is an awesome sport; watching those who posess skill make it even more exciting..... it is a sport for all ages as shown by the ageless like Howard and Stoughton as well as the up and coming youngsters like Brad's "boys" who are real men! The game shows how much heart and soul one puts into their "work" as shown by such as the Northern Ontario foursome, especially Mr Fry! good luck to them as they show the World how the game really is played here in Canada - make us proud......

The new draw schedule was great. Previously Friday was a long day with no games til evening unless there were tie breakers. Souvenir shops should have more larger sizes in inventory

    2013 Brier,meh

by Cranking on 2013-03-12Rexall Place - Edmonton

Didn't like having to go outside for the Patch. Having to leave seats and building between games was a hassle, even though had the seats for the weekend. Ended up only going to 1 game on second day to avoid the hassle. Wasted money vs buying singles

The seats were a bit too low and too much traffic banging up and down the shaking stairs

    2013 Tim Hortons Brier

by Tacan on 2013-03-12Rexall Place - Edmonton

A changing of the guard! This was a very successful event and well run. Made some new friends and some nice visits with old buddies. I the ice was great, the atmosphere outstanding and superb entertainment. With less morning games it made it easier to attend the whole event. I did not like the complaining about the rocks, as all teams had a chance to test the ice and rocks. All teams put in the best effort to play well against all opponents. Hope all the teams work harder to make the Roar. I will see them again in Kamloops.

Great First Time Live Brier Experience!

    by Angelo1588 on 2013-03-11Rexall Place - Edmonton

The seats were great- close to the action! Fairly good price for the tickets. Only downside was that 3/4 teams stopped the games after 7 ends because one team was quite far ahead. Just disappointing that the Alberta game that we came to watch was cut short, but great that they won! Overall, a fun experience if you love curling!

2013 Tim Hortons Brier - The best event in Town

by Tvonnie on 2013-03-11Rexall Place - Edmonton

Watching the best curlers in the country battle it out is always one of my favorite things to do. Not to mention the best party in town later in the Patch!

I'm very glad I ordered these tickets and got them for 21.00. I took my good friend and this was her first experience to watch curling live. We both had a excellent time and would definitely participate in this event again.

The Brier live was such a disappointment

by DWolff on 2013-03-11Rexall Place - Edmonton

Wow, it is just too quiet - no commentary, you can't really hear the players - we watched every second end on the jumbotron as you can't really see the other end. I have a suggestion - we live in a techno world... there must be away to allow patrons to hear the same thing that the TV audience is hearing. Pay for a headset, bring your ipod - I don't know - get some techno type to figure it out. The venue was fine - but it's not even close to full capacity - why not make it more inviting? We had tickets for the evening draw as well, but we opted to sit in our room at the MacDonald hotel, pop open a wine from the minibar and watch the draw in front of our beautiful big TV complete with commentary, curler comments etc. Kind of a shame, but - a much better experience.
