My wife and I went to this event thinking it would be a concert party. Firstly, we arrived early, thankfully as we found seating at a table easily, not so for many, as there simply was not enough seating to accommodate the mass of people. Many resorted to sitting on the floor, try to find a dry spot to sit well into the evening, good grief. The opening act was a complete bore, nothing really against the artist, but we never heard of him, didn't know the music and didn't lend to a party atmosphere. Wide Mouth Mason was a disappointment as we only recognized one song and didn't find it to be much for dance music. Always love Tom Cochrane, but he opened up with a slow forgettable list of songs and only got cranked up shortly before he finished for the evening. The liquor service was anything but, I heard reports ranging anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours in line for service. I personally spent 55 minutes in line in which I picked a relatively short line in comparison to some, the end lines seem shorter typically. My wife and I often attend large functions south of the border and never really have any issue with service. I think it is more a cultural issue whereas here, there is so much emphesis on making money at these functions that the service and organization goes out the window. If only there would be high motivation to please the people laying out the money to support these events even more money would follow. I was not interested in paying $6.00 per drink to spend that long in a line to get it. The Ocktoberfest function was way better set up as there was plenty of seating, plenty of room for people to dance, party or whatever they pleased to do on the floor space and liqour service was quite acceptable as they had table servers and the lines were very managable. Bottom line is we were expecting a fun party and were disappointed with the event as it seemed the only ones having fun were the drunk, of which there were plenty. It was our first Grey Cup attendance, and while it was a good game albeit the wrong team won, although they at lest won it this year, this Saturday night "party" left us with a sour feeling. It irritates me to have paid almost a hundred dollars for entrance and six dollars per drink for such a poorly arranged "party" and just imagine if I had to either stand or sit on the floor for the evening, shameful, not how to represent ourselves to the rest of the country. Hopefully the rest of the events were better, they must have been according to the reports in the papers, hopefully they weren't all drunk as well and just thought it was great.
