  • Visa priority li e?

    by m.koppel on 2019-09-08TIFF Bell Lightbox - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Only had a day to go...holidays happened then...Visa priority line needs to be in place prior to the opening if the first film!

  • The Traitor

by A. L. on 2019-09-08Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Wonderful evening! Not your typical Mafia movie. It was more of a study in human nature - greed, corruption, addiction, the distorted notion of ‘honour’ in Cosa Nostra, the ability to manipulate situations to our benefit when our survival depends on it - we can all relate.

  • Awesome but dark film

by lulubelle on 2019-09-08TIFF Bell Lightbox - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This film is beautifully shot, superbly acted, and gives us an honest and heartfelt depiction of the fallout from the opioid crisis that has affected so many lives across this nation. It is a film about loss, loneliness and longing.

  • Nocturnal Animals was brilliant

What can i say, i loved this movie! i saw this movie back to back with la la land and it was an incredible experience with both movies really made to perfection. I didnt have any expectations of this movie going in and i was so happy i went to see this. The beginning of the movie is a bit of a turnoff but blends right into the story perfectly and sets the tone for the whole movie. Incredible!

  • Violent, waste of time

    by Nexi1 on 2016-09-21Scotiabank Theatre Toronto - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

After sitting through this movie (don't know why we didn't leave), we felt it was such a waste of our time. It was violent and not worthy of a good review.

  • an inspiring and true story!!!

by Lorian on 2016-09-20Winter Garden Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Great work and acting by the leads in this story, based on true life. I would highly recommend to all ages from 12 and up. A story of perseverance, race relations, motives, politicing ..... and told beautifully. Not a fast paced film.....but deep. Even would be great for high school students with its thought provoking content.

  • Iggy is my idol

by InspiredByIggy on 2016-09-20Isabel Bader Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the documentary. I think it really captured Iggy's sense of humour and was a great account of the Stooges history. So many great moments throughout the film! I think Jim Jarmusch did an amazing job! This is my favourite moment, that is too long for the box below: I loved it when Iggy said he would stick it to the childhood 'acquaintance' who made fun of his family home/trailer and tried shaking it to see if it would fall over, then it cut to him being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame giving the double finger. LOVED IT!!!! Hilarious and poetic justice!

  • The Autopsy of Jane Doe was Horrifyingly Good!

by SeatSnob on 2016-09-19Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Autopsy of Jane Doe, part of TIFF 2016 Midnight Madness' programming was a terrifying masterpiece. The acting and chemistry between the two lead actors, as well as a random appearance by "Roose Bolton" from Game of Thrones, was fantastic. I commend the actress playing Jane as she pretty much had to lie on that table, stark naked for weeks, and her shallow breathing was undetected. It was gross (it was an autopsy) without being a typical gore-fest slaughter film, like so many modern horrors tend to be. It was suspenseful, eye-popping and it kept you engaged up until the last moment. Definitely a film to check out if you are a horror buff, like myself!

Great movie I hope people see the illness as it is and start talking about so we have this out there.

Entertaining concert movie that gives you an insight into Leehom's life. Beautiful music arranged seemlessly that makes the time fly by with you wanting more at the end.

  • In Dubious Battle

by LKguy on 2016-09-18Ryerson Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I admire the works of Steinbeck. "In Dubious Battle" is a gloomy & serious novel that illustrates the terrible conditions under which migratory workers lived and worked in the orchards of California during the Great Depression and the lengths to which the Communist Party would go in order to form workers' unions. I have read the novel twice and thought it would make a fine film but had little hope that someone would produce & direct such a film. I learned of the film project two years ago and waited for its premiere. I was not disappointed when I viewed it with my girlfriend at the TIFF festival. The storyline of the film corresponded very closely to Steinbeck's novel. Like the novel, the drama slowly increased to a crescendo at the end. The actors were well directed and filled their roles convincingly. I could see no fault in the period sets and costumes. Highly recommended.

  • Graphic, Twisted and not one boring moment!

by JanettoSan on 2016-09-15Visa Screening Room - Elgin Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

One crazy twisted story line. I have been thinking about this movie ever since attending it. I am left wondering about a lot of moments in a mysterious and positive way. This movie definitely leaves you thinking. Every time Johanna or the family she became part of were separated, something would happen and it wasn't something good. Movies like this one constantly remind me how Preachers, Reverends, Priests and Ministers have historically abused their power in one way or another. Religion has been twisted over and over again into something ugly. I love the way the writer Martin Koolhoven laid the story-line out before us. Be ready for some very graphic scenes, the unexpected and to feel anxious for the next scene to happen. You are going to LOVE it.

by Lisamaria on 2016-09-14Princess of Wales Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Sing was very funny. I enjoyed the experience of seeing the director and the main actors on the stage. I thoroughly enjoyed Jennifer Hudson and Tori Kelly's performance after the viewing.

  • The Promise

by Lucine on 2016-09-14Roy Thomson Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The acknowledgment of the Armenian genocide was the main reason I went to this movie. The director, Terry George did just that but also included a beautiful love triangle. People will laugh, cry and feel for the Armenian people. A must see.
