  • I had an ok experience

by Sd on 2019-09-17Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Tickets were overpriced, typically I can see movies that I have been longing to see for $22 each but this year they seemed to mostly be $35-$40 price range for any theatre and showtime! For the most part I was also not blown away by the film content this year that I saw!

  • Great First TIFF Experience!

by MizzLily on 2019-09-17Visa Screening Room at Princess of Wales Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I'm so sad that I waited so many years to experience TIFF! It really was so exciting to be in the hustle and bustle with big name actors and movie-goers like myself. The whole thing was so much fun!

  • Movie Q and A’s

by Margie on 2019-09-16Scotiabank Theatre Toronto - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Two of the movies I viewed had Q and A either before or after. In both cases, the person answering the question (when it came from the TIFF person) didn’t speak to the audience and didn’t hold the microphone close enough. It was very difficult to hear their responses.

  • Wonderful but $$$$

by Megan on 2019-09-16TIFF Bell Lightbox - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall I had another wonderful TIFF. Saw great films and I love the energy downtown during the festival but I was very disappointed in finding only resale prices for the galas. If ticket master is coordinating ticket sales for TIFF they should not be allowing tickets to be sold for hundreds of dollars to see a film.

  • Biggest fan

by Jack on 2019-09-15Visa Screening Room at Princess of Wales Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I felt having a gala was too socialite! It came with all the protesters and made tiff feel out of touch. $= entry. Getting movies was a nightmare on ticket master. Less if more. Overload and no ease. Movies were great. You also need the mayor to clean up our city before. Many homeless and garbage. I was embarrassed. Not the tourists or volume of people just loss of city pride which should be maintained by all of us all year. Not enough movies thanking the audience, tiff yes but those “bums in seats” the ticket buyers. Have more random joy for people. Do great one offs for movie goers. Volunteers are great.

TIFF is a great way to attend red carpet events, watch never-before-seen movies and discuss them with the cast! What is not to love?

Film was funny but felt like it didn’t make as strong a point as it could have.

  • First Tiff movie

by Tiff newbie on 2019-09-11Roy Thomson Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

First time participating in Tiff. We enjoyed the experience. The theatre had assigned seats which made it less stressful. Everyone was helpful and pleasant in the theatre. Saw a few stars before movie started-a bonus. Would do it again. Just wish tickets to more popular movies were easier to get

  • Great cast and great story

I enjoyed the film and was thrilled that the cast joined us for Q & A.

  • Amazing, funny, dramatic, exhilarating, all in one movie!

by Sergio on 2019-09-11Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Great movie, amazing actors. The director was able to take a very dramatic time in Argentina’s history and tell the story with a touch of humor and drama without loosing the balance. The movie will find you laughing, crying and holding to your seats! Highly recommended

  • Seeing Stars

    by AbFab911 on 2019-09-11Roy Thomson Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It’s the most wonderful time of they year...that’s what I always say, think and feel. I absolutely love TIFF. I love every about it. The buzz, the energy, the excitement, the movies, the stars. Every year the anticipation builds and every year my expectations are met far beyond what I had imagined. This year I particularly liked, and found extremely helpful, how organized the the TIFF “planner” was. I really liked being able to scroll through movies and “love” the ones I wanted to see, put them in my own “shortlist” and then gave those movies placed into the TIFF weekly planner with regards to where and when (including times) they were playing. It made the process so much easier especially because I like to look at things visually when I map them out. It was less overwhelming. The selection of movies is always above bar, so many to choose from. In thinking about ways to maybe make the experience different, the atmosphere is tending to feel a bit similar year after year on King street - the giant chess pieces, etc which I know are iconic to TIFF - but I feel on “the streets” things could maybe shift a bit - I’m stretching here to find one area to perhaps work on because really, how does one fix something that is already so magnificently perfect.

  • Very funny movie

Great movie - Eddie’s back! Wesley Snipes was fantastic too, with a few cameos. The movie also has a great soundtrack

  • Event was great, ticket purchasing was not

    by J. D. on 2019-09-10TIFF Bell Lightbox - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Getting my hands on these tickets was the biggest pain, the website had such long wait times and then you blink and you’re in. Some of us have other things to do than stare at the screen waiting to access the site!!! But the actual event was great. This time it was worth it - however I’ve had other events that were not.

  • I saw Black conflux

Movie was great, actors were great! Particularly liked Amber played by Olivia Scriven.

Loved everything except I couldn’t pick all my movies at once

  • Loved it!

by HenryD on 2019-09-09Visa Screening Room at Princess of Wales Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great experience! The movies, the celebrities and the outdoors activities were fantastic. Having said that, I am compelled to say that, while I thoroughly enjoyed 'The Friend' and 'And the birds rained down', I found 'Krabi 2562' unbelievably pointless and a colossal waste of my time and money. I find it strange that you could combine truly well-crafted gems like Friend and Birds with a self-indulgent, pointless and poorly-executed-in-every-possible-way waste of celluloid like Krabi. The director congratulated himself on his clever art. It was neither. It made me leave the festival on a low. Other than that, WELL DONE, TIFF19!

  • Very good film

by Beth on 2019-09-09TIFF Bell Lightbox - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Having to queue for half an hour was the only downside. Otherwise a great experience

  • Haven't been in a long time!

by T. M. on 2019-09-09Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

We went to the WinterGarden to see The Military Wives. It was fabulous! The story was so great. It's always so insightful so understand where the story began and what liberties the writers/producers took. Super nice to see the Actors come and discuss plus answer questions. I can't wait for next year - I'll go see more :)
