Toronto Maple Leafs History

The Toronto Maple Leafs have 13 Stanley Cup Championships and seven division championships, with more than 60 former players, coaches and executives in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Maple Leafs were one of the NHL's founding teams in 1917. They originally were known as the Arenas and then the St. Patricks before taking their current name in 1927 after Conn Smythe bought the franchise.

The team won two Stanley Cup Championships in the NHL's first five years and returned to the finals in 1932 behind the "Kid Line" of eventual Hall of Famers Charlie Conacher, Joe Primeau, and Busher Jackson. In 1942, they defeated the Detroit Red Wings in seven games to win the first of five Stanley Cup Championships under coach Hap Day. The addition the following year of center Ted Kennedy helped the Leafs maintain their dominance, and resulted in another title in 1951.

The Leafs won three Stanley Cup Championships in a row starting in 1962, and another in the 1966-1967 season, thanks to a roster brimming with players who would end up in the Hall of Fame: George Armstrong, Johnny Bower, Red Kelly, Dave Keon, Tim Horton, Allan Stanley, Bob Pulford, and Frank Mahovlich.

The team returned to the conference finals in 1992-1993 and 1993-1994, then again in 1998-1999—the latter trip powered by eventual franchise scoring leader Mats Sundin. The Maple Leafs have appeared in the Playoffs every year consecutively since 2017. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made the Playoffs a total of 74 times to date.

  • OBSTRUCTED

    by hockeyfan11111 on 2009-12-17Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

i specifically tried to avoid the tickets that said obstructed view (even though they are alot cheaper) so i got tickets that werent supposed to be, but i couldnt see a lot of the play behind one net, as it was blocked by the private boxes sticking out on the sides of the arena. i was very dissapointed because i would expect these tickets to have the obstructed view tag on the tickets and should have been a lot cheaper

  • Leafs were not very good

by Anonymous on 2009-12-17Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Everyone on the Leafs had a bad game. Total team effort. They still have a lot of work to do to get into the playoffs.

  • Block 309 standing area

    by Luup22 on 2009-12-15Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Block 309 is behind the press box, right at the red line. Sight wasn't obstructed at all. Good deal, but Leafs games are very expensive compared to other teams.

by Koolkim on 2009-12-15Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Going to a Leaf game is awesome what can I say? Even the nose bleed seats were great seats. They beat the hated Senators ...couldn't have asked for anything better.

  • by Bones2 on 2009-12-15Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Although going to a Leaf game is expensive, it is a wortwhile experience for any hockey fan. The whole package; the game, a the atmosphere, the side shows, merchandising, food...all great.

  • Toronto Hockey was great

by WoodySens on 2009-12-15Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

My Son-in-law really enjoyed the game since he is a Toronto Fan and the seat was great in 318 section.

  • Leafs and Sens rivalry alive and well..!!

    by jeking1 on 2009-12-15Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The online method for buying and printing tickets is so convenient. The fan excitement was very engaging and added greatly to an already exciting game. Getting to and from ACC was very easy and departure flowed very reasonably for that size of a crowd. I am a leaf fan and was in town on business but this was certainly a fun way to unwind and relax after a day of meetings. Truly enjoyable.

  • Leafs are not done yet

by ktump on 2009-12-15Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Leafs are getting better and better I can smell stanley getting closer and closer

  • Overpriced

    by Jes0425 on 2009-12-15Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Of course I can't resist going to a few games every season, for the sheer fact that I love the game. However, the tickets are grossly over-priced and there are a number of issues that take away from the game-watching experience. People get up and walk around every 5 minutes, blocking your view, causing you to miss goals - a group of 6 men were standing in the aisle for about 15 minutes trying to figure out where their seats were. Couldn't an usher have helped them? The concessions staff were friendly - the fact that Tim Horton's prices are standard is appreciated and convenient.

  • Leafs vs. Caps

by kevinb on 2009-12-14Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Ok, I am not a Leafs fan, but my girlfriend is a huge fan, and this made her day. She was excited, from the moment we saw the ACC to the final buzzer. This is how hockey is supposed to be. Unfortunately, the tickets we purchased were rather expensive. I have seen other games that compared to this experience in other arenas and paid almost half of the price. This was a special occasion that we were celebrating, and would likely do it again, but not for a little while.

  • by cheget on 2009-12-13Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

  • Laid Back and Enjoyable

by CanadianOranges on 2009-12-12Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The skills competition was definitely a fun event. Every one, players and crowd, were really relaxed and laid back on a Sunday afternoon. It was over before we knew it, but for the price, and good cause, I couldn't complain.

  • Leafs @ ACC

    by PoolBoy08 on 2009-12-10Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The game was great!! The tickets were 3 rows from the top in the nose bleed section but still a great view of the ice and plays...except when fans were getting up to get beer. Easy access to the stadium and easy to get around in the ACC.

  • First time at ACC

    by Hardcor99 on 2009-12-10Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed every minute at the ACC. The problem is it would have been nice to tell all the fans who's going to be there for autographs at what ever else is planned for the day.
