Toronto Raptors History

The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The Raptors have been the only NBA team based in Canada since the 2001–02 season. After acquiring eight-time All-Star Vince Carter in 1998, the Raptors set league-wide attendance records and made the playoffs from 2000 to 2002. Led by Carter, the Raptors earned their first playoff series win in 2001 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Raptors didn't return to the playoffs until the 2006–07 season, when they won the Atlantic Division title. After Masai Ujiri joined as the team's General Manager in 2013, the Raptors became a consistent playoff team, winning five division titles and having their most successful season in 2018. The following year, during the 2019 playoffs, the Raptors earned their first Eastern Conference title and went on to win their first NBA championship, defeating the Warriors in 6 games.

  • Lakers Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymous on 2010-12-21Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I was VERY excited from the time of purchasing the tickets to the game, up until the arrival of the game. As I wore my new laker tshirt very proudly, I was glad to see the many purple and gold colours fill the arena. I do support our hometown team, yet, the Lakers are my fav team. Hearing that Andrea was out of the line up, the chances of pulling out a "w" for the Raps quickly evaporated. The game was solid, lots of offence. I have to give the Raps credit for putting up a fight and even though down double digits, they still hung in there. However, the Lakers are back to back champs for a reason; even if Kobe didnt play that much. Good luck to the other 29 teams come playoffs; I smell three peat in La La land.

  • Raptors/Lakers Super Fun

    by JD421 on 2010-12-21Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I had a great time at the Laker/Raptor Game on Dec. 19, 2010. The crowd was terrific right from the get go. There was an aura surrounding the Lakers. You felt like royalty was there. The players were so nice with many of them signing autographs during warm ups. The game was fast paced and well-played. The event was fun with too with great time out events, a nice half-time show, and a wonderful orchestra who played the national anthem. Overall, basketball and the Raptors are the best sporting event to see in Toronto.

  • Very exciting Lakers vs Raps!!

by ALYD on 2010-12-21Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I always have a good time when watching these two clubs go at it! I was hoping for another surprise victory but that was short lived!! especially when Phil activates "the Black Mamba" it's pretty much lights out. Having platinum seats are the best!! I can't see myself sitting anywhere else in these seats plus going to the Platinum Club for drinks and dinner is always exciting! you would be surprised some of the people that you would run into.

I took a group of 13 year old kids for a birthday, and I expected there to be more interactive fanzone activities. Instead of hyping up the crowd, the fan zone workers would be just come every so often, and give t-shirts to people sitting near them. Was disappointed with that.

  • Raptors... Loved it!

by Angelarvt on 2010-12-12Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Raptors were doing great for the first little bit, then fell behind but made a good come back! We lost the game by a few points but Bargnani and Barbosa rocked it! The seats were awesome, the crowd was intense and the free MGD beer was wicked! Good times!

  • dissapointing raptors

by donnalee on 2010-12-09Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

i am soooooo dissapointed with the level of play from the raptors, they bearly could get the ball into the net , this was supposed to be a very special game for my family especially my eight year old son , this was the first time he's ever been to a professional basketball game he was all excited we had him all pumped to cheer for the raptors , but booo they were asleep at the defence line most of the time and the nicks just walked all over them .

  • Where is the Family Fun area?

    by Scooter67 on 2010-12-07Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I had a very difficult time finding the Family Fun area, as did everyone else in my section. I asked several staff members, but none had any idea what I was talking about, even when I showed them the e-mailed that I have received explaining all the details.

    great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Guys night out package is great

by Anonymous on 2010-12-06Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Seats are not bad. No obstruction or difficulties in seeing the court. The Guys Night Out package is really great. You get a sandwich, beer, pop, t-shirt, and a bunch of coupons (we got a 6 pack MGD for free coupons). These things alone would be worth at least $30. The Raps also won the game so it was even more fun. Highly recommended for a group of guys who are looking to have fun times at Raptors games.

  • Not enough cheerleaders action in the 2nd half

by ZosoEast on 2010-12-06Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Raps win!!!. But not enough cheerleaders action in the 2nd half.

A 127 points on the board and revenge against Wizards by winning by 19 at home since 109-94 loss in D.C. Washington was the best Can't wait for game vs the Pistons on 22

  • raptors game

    by sa28 on 2010-11-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

even though they lost, the energy in the center was great

  • by RapFans999 on 2010-11-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The game was finished at 3rd quarter, not even close. The management better make some good trade, otherwise Raptor's fan won't see a playoff in a long long time.

  • poor effort!

by gpas on 2010-11-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

I took my grandson to the game on sunday .There are few Sunday early games during the season.Unfortunately apoor effort by the raptors did nothing to make him a fan now or in the future. The loss was not the issue .lack of effort was. !
