Toronto Raptors History

The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The Raptors have been the only NBA team based in Canada since the 2001–02 season. After acquiring eight-time All-Star Vince Carter in 1998, the Raptors set league-wide attendance records and made the playoffs from 2000 to 2002. Led by Carter, the Raptors earned their first playoff series win in 2001 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Raptors didn't return to the playoffs until the 2006–07 season, when they won the Atlantic Division title. After Masai Ujiri joined as the team's General Manager in 2013, the Raptors became a consistent playoff team, winning five division titles and having their most successful season in 2018. The following year, during the 2019 playoffs, the Raptors earned their first Eastern Conference title and went on to win their first NBA championship, defeating the Warriors in 6 games.

by Dymez on 2009-12-14Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Yesterday was my first time at a basketball game and it was amazinfg. I loved every second of it. Watching the game from home is cool but it's nothing compared to seeing the live action. When your there you just get so much energy and ur just real amped and screaming for no reason lol. Definately gonna be making this a yearly thing but next time have to do it courtside!

It's a fantistic match I have seen NBA games. Raptors won, and we can have a slice pizza from PIZZA PIZZA, I'm so exciting! Ilove Bosh, love Raports, love this game!

  • Good Game

This is my second basketball game. Even though the Rapters lost, it was a really good game. Seeing Bosh and Nash go head-to-head made the game exciting.

Going to the Raptors game is always a good time, and it's great that they offer some tickets for such an affordable price. My daughter and I were near the top of the ACC, but still had a great view of the court and all the action. We even got a commemorative Hedo Turkoglu bobblehead! Good times were had by all.

I am a fan of Raptors from the begining , I took my son to the first game when he was 4 years old. Yesterday should be easy game for Raptors, but our 3 points players were not there for the game. My son was very disappointed like the rest of fans from section 318 because of that. I am looking for the next games that we will go.

Dear Ticketmaster I enjoyed the festivities of last Sunday's raptors versus Suns game. The game dog show at halftime was entertaining. The crowd was jumping and ,for the most part, the fans were into the game and having fun until the score got out of hand and Phoenix took over in the second half and we couldn't hit that many shots in the third and fourth quarter. I would go to another game if it is a team we can beat.

  • Raptors = amazing

Raptor need tough defense and less turnover. Sometimes, they can not focus on the game.

I brought my children to this event as it was family day, their reaction was unforgettable.

  • Raptors Phoenix tilt

The Phoenix Raptors game Sunday Nov 29th was good value because Steve Nash is such a great value. He was worth the admission price.

  • Raptors don't have it

    by mmqc2 on 2009-11-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

No juice at the arena even though we were playing the Suns. Partly due to the lower seats being a third empty - indicating they are charging too much for these seats in tough economic times. It's not a good thing when people are screaming more loudly at the prospect of someone lobbing them a free t-shirt than they do cheering the game. I do love the purple guy but I'm sad to say even the Raptor needs to add something new to his routines.

  • Amazing game

by NItakeeta on 2009-11-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

We had a great time. My son cheered on the Suns in Raptor territory (Sun's are the favorite and the Raptor's are our 2nd favorite) and everybody around us had a good laugh. Everyone played well (both teams). Next time we go back to Toronto we will cheer the Raptors, as long as they are playing against the Suns.

  • I think the Raptor was very kind

by mackmack on 2009-11-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I liked it when the Raptor came to visit us and he banged on the glass and I looked up and HE WAS THERE. And then he let me touch his hand. And I liked it when the Raptor put on a big inflatable suit and he did some silly tricks. And I liked it when I saw some dogs running. And one of the dogs was very silky.

  • Improvements required

by chaunce on 2009-11-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The basketball game was a good and worthwhile experience, however, the in game energy has diminished over the years and I think some improvements need to be made to the in-game entertainment to keep fans engaged. There isn't as much excitement as a few years back; granted we had Vince Carter several years ago and the house was generally sold-out nightly, but it's unfortunate that our building isn't as loud as it used to be. Bring back the bagged-pipes!

  • Raptors play no Defence in the 3rd Quarter, again.

by JackSchitt on 2009-11-30Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Great seats, bad game... I think that the Raptors must change their system to match their personnel.

  • by Biss on 2009-11-25Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Bought the tickets for my husband's birthday with no intention of accompanying him to the event. However, it turned out that I did go with him and thoroughly enjoyed the game. Would go again if the opportunity presents itself. Thank-you
