Toronto Raptors History
The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The Raptors have been the only NBA team based in Canada since the 2001–02 season. After acquiring eight-time All-Star Vince Carter in 1998, the Raptors set league-wide attendance records and made the playoffs from 2000 to 2002. Led by Carter, the Raptors earned their first playoff series win in 2001 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Raptors didn't return to the playoffs until the 2006–07 season, when they won the Atlantic Division title. After Masai Ujiri joined as the team's General Manager in 2013, the Raptors became a consistent playoff team, winning five division titles and having their most successful season in 2018. The following year, during the 2019 playoffs, the Raptors earned their first Eastern Conference title and went on to win their first NBA championship, defeating the Warriors in 6 games.

The Toronto Raptors play at Scotiabank Arena, which is also home to the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League. Located adjacent to Union Station and the underground pedestrian PATH system, the arena is convenient to public transportation (TTC, GO Transit and Union Pearson Express) for fans attending events. Having opened in 1999, Scotiabank Arena has won more than 40 industry awards for the venue’s security, accessibility, fan service, environmental commitment, sales and box office service. It has a capacity of up to 19,800 people for basketball games, and has hosted over 39 million fans at over 2,600 events, including multiple NBA playoff runs and the 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend.
The Toronto Raptors’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home as the Raptors face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves. I was not happy with the ACC or MLS. How can you have not have free giveaways the fans? How can you not give out the thunderstix? Where were the kids that try to pump up the crowd? Just a very dissappointing show from the ACC/MLS. I went to the opener and had the same experience. I guess this will be my last game I attend till the playoffs. I normally go to 10-15 games a year and it's been cut to 2. THANKS ACC/MLS.
Home Opener versus Lebron and company featuring the new look Raptors. Toronto played good from start to finish even surprisingly leading by 20 at half time. Cleveland eventually brought the game to within 1 point with some help by the Zebras but King James's triple double wasn't enough to stop a total team effort by Toronto.
I have honestly never had SOOO MUCH FUN at a raptors game ever! I simply loved every single moment and on top of that they WON!!! I will for sure be returning!!

I think the game was unforgettably exciting and the crowd was going crazy at almost every point in the game! It's good for Toronto and I will be going back again when they play the Lakers in January!
This was a sick seasone opener for the Raps. I just wish I brought my A game. Furthermore, I am sorry the ref did not catch me bumping into Bosh the last few minutes of the game...in fact, the foul was against Bosh! Other than that, awesome game! Got my free Pizza Pizza slice too - they recognized me and felt bad for me...
This was a blast, what a great season opener. Loved the energy on the court and in the stands. Looks like this team has serious potential to gell and have a grea season. No predictions, but they played amazing. I was scared when they blew a 20 point lead and it felt like deja vue, but they came back. Respect to Triano!! Loved the new kids, and it was great seeing Parker and Moon. My seats were also wonderous!
its been so long since i've been to a raptors game and i had a great time. the crowd was so into it i had so much fun making noise and cheering on the raps! it was one of the most fun things i ever been to. i cant wait until sundays game!
It was a great home opener as the Raps beat the Cavs and they pretty much led for the entire game. The pre-game intro and ceremonies were way too long though but understandable since it was opening night. The renovations to the ACC concourse levels were very well done.
Game was awesome. It was a memorable night right from the start. Got to meet/talk to the baller, Adnan Virk, for a bit, and took some pictures with him. And of course the game was great! Raps played great defence, and Bargs stepped up big time.
It was a fun and loud event. And we got free pins, shirts and pizza. Great game!!!

Took opportunity Sunday afternoon (Oct18) to see new look Raptors play Celtics @ ACC in NBAX game. Strong start and slow finish in 4th quarter but overall Raptors new look squad showed promise. Can't beat the $12.50 seats...6th row on corner with good view. Have purchased these seats for at least 4 other games during regular season. Look forward to returning during reg season when games will count.
The tickets are full price, 40% of the seats aren't sold but you can't move closer and there was no half time show. I may be showing my age but $4.50 for a water and $7 for a hot dog seem a like a lot. I brought my kids to their first game to see if we should get a multi-pack for the season. I promised more than a game, fun in the aisle, t-shirt cannon and a half time show. I guess that those are for the regular season only. The Celtics played their starters a little longer so they dominated the home team. Sorry paying fans. I told the people around the office to never buy a preseason ticket.
Happy to see the Celtics, however I would not spend my money on a preseason game again. I'd spend a little more and attend regular games instead.
raptors sucked... lackluster effort.. better play hard during season
The basketball field, the view and the personnel of Air Canada center were amazing. So that would make 2 stars. Otherwise, this is my third time I'm watching a team from Toronto playing and the third time to see them loosing. They were making efforts, but I felt like they might have done better anyway. I also found the food at the stadium pretty expensive, given its quality and quantity. Overall I'd say it's a positive experience, but it's largely overpriced, given the quality of the game and services.
very expensive for a pre-season game. atmoshpere wasnt the greatest, and wasnt a very enjoyable game to watch
