Toronto Raptors History

The Toronto Raptors were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. The Raptors have been the only NBA team based in Canada since the 2001–02 season. After acquiring eight-time All-Star Vince Carter in 1998, the Raptors set league-wide attendance records and made the playoffs from 2000 to 2002. Led by Carter, the Raptors earned their first playoff series win in 2001 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Raptors didn't return to the playoffs until the 2006–07 season, when they won the Atlantic Division title. After Masai Ujiri joined as the team's General Manager in 2013, the Raptors became a consistent playoff team, winning five division titles and having their most successful season in 2018. The following year, during the 2019 playoffs, the Raptors earned their first Eastern Conference title and went on to win their first NBA championship, defeating the Warriors in 6 games.

The game was exciting and Raptors won the game. Mr. Bosh did a good job. Compared to the ticket price it was a good value. Beer in the bar was a bit too expensive. I highly recommend!

  • My First Raptors Game

by JenniferW on 2010-01-08Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I'm not big on sports, so a basketball game is definitely not on my must do list. For Christmas I bought my boyfriend tickets to the game and decided to go with him. I thought I'd try out at least one game for him. As it turned out I really enjoyed it! The shoe squeaks only bothered me twice for a couple of seconds, because for the most part there's music and announcements over topping it. Raptor was great and the Raptors won! I couldn't ask for a better game! The cheerleaders, or dance pack or whatever they're called could have been more exciting, but I wasn't there for them :)

It was amazing to be part of history for all of us basketball and Raptors fans. Chris Bosh is simply an outstanding player and person. Win against the Spurs was icing on the cake. Oh... BTW ... Raptors mascot got a standing ovation when a clip of his unforgettable moments was shown on the screen. Check it out for yourselves at the next Raptors game.

A great afternoon of fun. Crowd was energetic and the team was pumped up too. Nice to have the chance for my son to go shoot a foul shot on the hardwood after the game.

  • ten dollar beer

by zbarnz on 2009-12-28Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I have been a raptor fan since day one, I have gone to raptors games every year except last year. The biggest reason that I don't go to more games is because a beer costs over ten dollars. I don't care that food is expesive thats one thing, but almost a dollar for an ounce of beer is absolute robbery. I'm suprised that people don't lick the beer off the floor when they spill it. If you think I'm the only one complaining your absolutly wrong. Times are tough now, just look at the empty seats at games ( exspecially the states ) . Going to a game is one of the last entertainment events that I can go to that makes me forget about everything, where I can yell and scream and releive stress. Bottom line I have a 46 inch HD TV at home that I can turn up loud on my 5.1. sound system. I can buy a premium case of 24 beer's for what it costs me at the game for three drafts. So it's your choice do you want me to scream at home for a game on my TV, or do you want me to go to the game and yell, it's all about the price of the beer. Oh, by the way the $12.50 are a great price for tickets, if I had to pay the full price for these tickets ( for family of three ) on top of the high beer prices there would be no decision to make as I would not go to any games ever again. zbarnz

Raptor games are the best sporting venue in Toronto! First of all, the music is always upbeat and current. The halftime shows are fun for both kids and aduts.

I think game was very good, but Raptors didn't try hard. They didn't work to hard. It was good, that they gave chance for new players to play. Sometimes you have to do so because you never know what can happened,

  • The Raptors Win Big!

by spikep on 2009-12-20Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I took my family to see the Raptors play, as a gift to my son who was turning 13! First of all, they won! Second, they got over 100 points, so free pizza for all of us, and third, the mood was light and fun and we saw many old clips in honour of the huskies and past players. It was great!

  • Raps Vs Nets

by LifeorDeath on 2009-12-20Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Although a blowout, if you were a raptor fan you for sure enjoyed the game. They were leading the nets by nearly 50 points at one point and we were still in the 3rd quarter. I hoped for more of a close battle to make for an exciting game bring some friends and family out but nonetheless they still enjoyed it.
