    lovely voices! lovely local composer!

by Criticus on 2011-11-21Chan Centre For The Performing Arts - Vancouver

It was great to hear the works of a local, contemporary composer for a change. I think there are too many classical concerts of dead composers of previous centuries who, though absolutely great in some ways, do not speak to our times, unlike the composer of Requiem for Peace. It was a very thoughtuful, creative and sensitive composition, with choice poetry incorporated. It was also great to hear some fine, local singers. I particularly liked hearing Kathleen Allan who has a very pure tone and was very moving. I would love to hear her again! There is plenty of local talent in our midst and there is no need to bring in "international stars." Sometimes these international stars are very spectacular but more often I just wonder what all the fuss is about. Think local in all ways! Not just food-wise. Let's support more our local artists!

    Fantastic Choral Experience

by PaulFromEdmonton on 2011-04-28Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

It was truly a pleasure to be present for this concert in one of my favourite venues in Vancouver. The variety of repretoire and skill of the performers made the show absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend attending the VCC or VCO any time you can.

    Vancouver Christmas Dylan

by Haas on 2010-12-21Ryerson United Church - Vancouver

It was a nice touch to have the professional narrator! The Chamber Choir was superb. Looking for something with a little bit of "WOW" factor to it however. Though it was very good it lacks the luster. "Great Yuletide Cheer" and I'll go again for sure!

    Festive Tradition

by Britbees on 2010-12-21Ryerson United Church - Vancouver

I thoroughly enjoyed the concert, the choir was fantastic and the readings were exceptional. I laughed a lot at the rendition of A child's Christmas in Wales and the selection of songs that accompanied the poem were excellent. A great way to kick off CHristmas week.

Great concert. Beautiful singing. I liked that they included some carols I've never heard of before.

    Magnificat magnificent.

by LaymanDon on 2010-12-06Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

This performance was very polished and powerful. It was followed by a delightful assembly of past and present choir members who gave a good account of themselves in the carol singalong, Enjoyed myself immensely, and even my wife, who normally only likes instrumental music, had a good time.

    Review of Magnificat

by SocialEntrepreneur on 2010-12-06Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

The show was unbelievable. The choir was very much into their profession and music. The crowd was exhilarated by the various musical interludes. Three Thumbs Up.
