    Wonder evening of the Masters

by picky37 on 2013-10-21Ryerson United Church - Vancouver

What a great way to spend an evening. The program featured works that were in turn complex and yet accessible. The highlight for me was the Laudate Dominum by Mozart featuring soloist Lorraine Reinhardt. Her control over that luscious sound simply transported me to another ethereal level.

    Superb choral concert

by Donotlookworthy on 2013-03-17Ryerson United Church - Vancouver

As someone who sang in a choir in Montreal and elsewhere for years, I was captivated by the beautiful a cappella performance of the Vancouver Chamber Choir. Their professionalism, discipline and the sheer beauty of their singing are inspiring. Jon Washburn is a gem, in his conducting, his program selection and his compositions.

    Rock Star Choral Conductor!

by WillP on 2012-10-29Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

In one word Eric Whitacre is a talent composer, fabulous conductor and wonderful communicator. If you have a chance to see him conduct go! Vancouver's Chamber Choir was flawless as was the beautiful Lafyette String Quintet and the very professional piano accompanist Steven Smith. If you love Choral Music music you would have been in heaven listening to the unique, complex and beautiful choral compositions of this talented young composer.

    Delightful concert

by Darlski on 2012-10-29Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

The Eric Whitacre concert was fabulous. He introduced his compositions with candid witty stories that allowed his audience a glimpse of who he is as a person. The music was complex and unusual and yet sonorous in texture. The Chamber Choir executed it beautifully and when the other choirs joined in, the sound was spectacular. It was hard to believe that there were so many voices involved in those last 3 pieces. What a wonderfule xperience for those young singers.

Handel's Messiah - Vancouver Chamber Choir

by Ramstone on 2011-12-12Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Orchestra and choir were impressive as were the soloists, especially the bass. Handel's Messiah is the most elegant music and most timely for the Christmas season. The words that Handel picked from the Bible are most welcome for this time of year to remind us of our hurts and joys, our loves and foibles.
