About

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vince Gill has become one of the most celebrated country artists of all-time, selling over 24 million albums throughout his career and winning 20 Grammy Awards, more than any other male country artist in history. In 2013, he played for ticket holders in concert across North America and the U.K. and is scheduled to tour with George Strait in 2014. Born in 1957 in Oklahoma, he learned how to play several instruments including banjo and guitar as a child and played in a bluegrass band in high school. He joined the country band Pure Prairie League in the late 1970s before leaving the group in 1982 to pursue his solo career. He put out four solo albums in the 1980s, including 1984’s Turn Me Loose and 1989’s When I Call Your Name, before releasing the double platinum 1991 album Pocket Full of Gold. His next album, 1992’s I Still Believe in You, reached No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and sold over three million copies with hit singles “What the Cowgirls Do” and “Whenever You Come Around.” Gill’s 1993 Christmas album Let There Be Peace on Earth also went platinum, and 1994’s When Love Finds You peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard chart, his most successful album selling over four million copies. More commercial and critical success followed with 1996’s High Lonesome Sound and 1998’s The Key, and his next five solo albums reached the country top five, including 2000’s Let's Make Sure We Kiss Goodbye and 2006’s These Days. The Country Music Association has bestowed Gill with a total of 18 CMA Awards including two Entertainer of the Year awards and five Male Vocalist Awards, and in 2007, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

    Vince Gill - Still great!

I had high hopes when we went to see Vince on Nov. 3 and I was not disappointed. Down to earth person and humble. Great singer and a fabulous picker. He has not lost his touch or voice in all these years. His back-up band was great. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Keep it up Vince.

    Vince Gill- Class act

by Anonymous on 2012-11-05The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

Vince was great, he interacted with the crowd and played his great guitar licks which go great with his voice. He played most of his hits and my only disappointment would be that he did not play my favorite (The reason why)

    Vince Gill

He puts on a super show!! We saw him several years ago in Florida and I enjoyed that show more as it was longer. In that show, he talked more - I particularly enjoyed his story about learning to drive in Oklahoma City. This show was shorter but still very enjoyable. I certainly would go to see him again as I really like his singing.

Vince Gill but on a great show! He sounds great in concert, just like your listening to his CD! He talked between each and every song and the stories he told were funny, entertaining and interactive! Kudos also goes out to his fantastic band, completely error-less for every song. Also, a big plus was the show started on time! I would definately recommend this show to anybody and I would pay for it all over again! Worth every penny!

    Vince Gill - Extraordinary

    by Bambi1 on 2012-08-20Casino Rama - Rama

As always Vince Gill puts on a great show - he is so at ease with the audience. He has a good rapport - its like an evening with an old friend. His stories are funny and his voice is impeccable. He sang a variety of all the old favourites and some we hadn't heard in a while. His guitar talent would put any rock legend to shame. Very down to earth - no fancy light works, etc - no need - all you need is to listen to that great voice. Would highly recommend this concert to anyone - whether a country fan or not. He is just amazing - can't wait until he comes back.

I went to the concert because my husband was sure that it was going to be good. We were not disappointed. I am not into that particular genre of music but could totally appreciate his skill as a musician and his voice is very easy to listen to. Great concert

Vince Gill was excellent, venue was disappointing

by RonaldBarrister on 2012-08-18Casino Rama - Rama

This was our first visit to Casino Rama. Elizabeth and I arrived at 5:00 p.m. Our concert wouldn’t begin until 8:00 p.m. We figured we would have lots of time to eat and look around before the show started. Wrong! Much wasted time trying to get into one of their ten restaurants. Long line-ups everywhere and more than once we were told the earliest they could seat us was 7:30 p.m. I regretted not having made a reservation. Now I know what to expect next time. We ended up dining at Cedar. The cornbread came quickly and was delicious, but a long, long, long wait for our main course, such that there was no time for dessert. Clearly, they need to hire more staff in the kitchen. The concert with Vince Gill started just a few minutes after 8:00 p.m. Vince’s voice was strong and clear and his band was excellent during the rocking numbers, but did him a disservice during the ballads. Everyone in the band was banging away and drowning out the vocals. I would have much preferred a couple of acoustic numbers. Later in the concert, the band was more subdued, and maybe this was more a function of the crew on the sound board. Vince only performed one track from 'Guitar Slinger', his latest release. He did play all of his hits, with the exception of the duets, of course, and there was a one-song encore. There were no flashy audio-visual effects, just some vertical panels on the wall behind the band with computer-generated graphics. As previously mentioned, this was our first visit to Casino Rama. About three-quarters of the way through the concert, folks started getting up and walking out, in the middle of a song, no less. And more and more people followed, until it was a constant and steady parade of people leaving. I figured they had come to Casino Rama for the day on a package tour and had to catch their bus back to Toronto or wherever, but it was disruptive. There should have been a brief time-out so that everyone who had to catch a bus could get up and leave at the same time. I had hoped to pick up some Vince Gill merchandise, but found none for sale. Vince is a talented musician and gifted songwriter, with lyrics that poignantly speak to the human condition. He is a true gentleman and a great ambassador for country music. I would rate his concert as 4½ stars out of 5. For the venue itself, only 2 stars out of 5.
