    The duelling ladies

by Perwee on 2017-10-28Nederlander Theatre - New York

Patti Lupone and Christine Ebersole were excellent. Both ladies played their parts very well and were able to tell their stories with ease through their songs. Both are amazing singers

    Great singers, lousy show

by TKB1 on 2017-05-09Nederlander Theatre - New York

How disappointing. Fabulous singers (both the female stars but also the less known male leads) given very little to work with. Music was uninspiring and the story was a great concept told badly. I love good musical theatre and pretty much think Stephen Sondheim is god. This was so boring I think I fell asleep at one point. If you want to see Patti LuPone or Christine Ebersole live, then go. But otherwise, don't bother

Although the lead actresses are excellent, the play is just mediocre. The songs are not memorable. The costuming is wonderful.
