About

Wayne Newton is a singer and entertainer from Norfolk, Virginia. Over the course of his decades-long career, Newton has become synonymous with the glitz and glamor of the Strip, earning the nickname “Mr. Las Vegas.” Getting his start in the 1950s, the then-teen singer was mentored by superstars like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Bobby Darin. Some of his best-known songs include “Danke Schoen,” “Red Roses for a Blue Lady” and “Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast.” By 1963, he had become a headliner at the Flamingo in Las Vegas and worked his way to being named the highest-grossing act in Sin City history. Through the 1990s, Newton headlined shows at Caesars Palace, MGM Grand Las Vegas and Bally’s before signing a 10-year contract in 1999 as the first-ever headliner-in-residence at the Stardust Resort and Casino — though the deal was cut short in 2005 as a result of the venue’s demolition. In 2016, Newton performed his lounge show Up Close & Personal at Bally’s, followed by his 2019 stint at Caesars Palace to celebrate his 60th year on stage. In 2024, Newton will embark on his Up Close and Personal Tour.

Wayne Newton Up Close and Personal

by Donnal213 on 2019-08-18The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

I loved the show. Loved how Wayne shared great stories if his life and career and the clips he shared with us. Especially loved how he included his wife in the show and that we didn’t know it was his wife until the end. He’s such a class act

    Great Show!!

by F. B. on 2019-08-18The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

He was wonderful! A great ''up close and personal'' show. It was great to see the old clips of his performances and have him tell us what it was like. I only wish it was a little bit longer, but all in all it was great!!

    Wayne is still Mr. Entertainment!

by Anonymous on 2018-10-18Windows at Bally's Las Vegas - Las Vegas

The show was excellent, our seats couldn’t be better and the interaction with Wayne was so warm! I even learned things I didn’t know about his career.

    Really enjoyed this show!

by Gigigigi on 2018-07-06Windows at Bally's Las Vegas - Las Vegas

My husband and I are a little young to have lived through Wayne Newton's musical prime but we still greatly enjoyed this show. If you're interested in hearing him sing for the full two hours, you may be disappointed. What I love about this show is that he told so many great and interesting stories about his life and career, coupled with several songs, a great violin performance and many jokes. Just an overall great variety of material. The venue is small, quaint and a real treat given how large most venues are these days in Vegas.

So glad I got to see Wayne live!

by KatyFan on 2018-06-03Windows at Bally's Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Admittedly I was never a Wayne Newton fan before I saw the show. I saw him in National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation, which was great! So I saw he was playing at Bally's in Vegas and I thought, this is Mr. Las Vegas, I have to see him live! So we did! I got to shake his hand twice, he was such a nice and funny guy. The show was energetic and very interesting. He tells you about his early days pre-Vegas, early Vegas days, who he used to perform with etc. It was very fascinating!

    Wayne Newton

by Vegasboy on 2018-03-05Windows at Bally's Las Vegas - Las Vegas

This was one of the best shows I have ever attended in Vegas . The show is held in a very small venue , which allows the audience to get close and personal with him . He shook my hand on the way in and eye contact was made several times during the show. His shows consists of him talking about his career, with stories about other famous vegas performers . He sings some of his songs , shows old footage of his performances and you really get to know who Wayne was and is . He was very down to earth and approachable

Mr. Las Vegas Lives Up to His Name

by LPurchase on 2017-12-09Windows at Bally's Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Up Close and Personal is a very intimate performance and you will leave feeling like Wayne Newton is a new best friend. He is one of the last surviving original Vegas performers and he is very charming and funny, with lots of great tales and vintage film reels of Vegas and the Rat Pack. Especially loved the footage with Wayne and Glen Campbell. Wayne is very much aware of his audience and does his best to include as many as he can with handshakes for the men, hugs & kisses for the women, and shout outs to veterans and military personnel. He willingly poses for cell phone pics and selfies during the show. He is so warm and friendly, he puts you at ease immediately, without losing one ounce of his class act. He is extremely smooth and professional and handles the evening effortlessly. His voice is not as strong as it once was, however, he more than makes up for that with his passion and his musical talent. His fiddle playing skill came as a nice surprise and he is very talented on piano and guitar. I would highly recommend getting yourself a VIP ticket that includes the Diamond Ranch tour of his Casa de Shenandoah home and a meet and greet after the show. I've met him a few times now, and loved him each and every time.

    Wayne Newton was Disappointing.

by Zarkon on 2017-03-07Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

Wayne Newton has a long and storied career with dozens of hit songs to his credit. Unfortunately, he only sang about three songs live the entire show. Instead, he chose to show video clips of his life the entire evening. I didn't pay $70 to watch Youtube videos and home movies! I came to hear him sing live and in person some of his most memorable songs. Instead, he chose to sit back and play recordings of his past performances from 20 years ago. He also was supposed to answer questions from the audience, but mostly gave scripted answers with convenient accompanying video clips to previously planted questions read by his wife. I guess he's lost his talent and his voice is incapable of performing for any duration anymore. Sad and disappointing. How the mighty have fallen!

    Wayne is amazing in 2016/17

by BarbaraYYC on 2017-01-07Bally's - Las Vegas

Old reviews don't reflect the Wayne Newton of 2016/17. His voice was wonderful and he didn't need any backup singers to be honest. Wayne puts on a very entertaining show for his "Up Close & Personal" tour. I recommend seeing it and will be going again when he is in Calgary. I enjoyed it so much.

    Wayne Newton is Amazing

by BarbaraYYC on 2017-01-06Bally's - Las Vegas

I recently saw Wayne Newton in Las Vegas for his "Up Close & Personal" show. It was an amazing show. Wayne is so talented and is truly Mr Las Vegas. What a showman. Sings, plays instruments, tells pretty good jokes and the best part? His anecdotes of the highlights in his life. A really nice down-to-earth and humble person. If you can't make it to Las Vegas, you have to see Wayne's upcoming show in Calgary if you live in that area. You will not be disappointed. It's not often one can be mesmerized by a person's achievements.

    Wayne Newton cannot sing anymore.

by thegoodlife on 2013-02-11Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

My husband and I have been to many concerts over the years, and this one was clearly the worst. Wayne Newton not only has lost his singing voice, his speaking voice is also affected. His back up singers and orchestra was fine, and obviously the volume was turned up for them to try and make up for Mr. Newton. The show was two hours long, and the lions share of the time was spent by watching old clips of Wayne singing with other performers over the years, Wayne playing some instruments, and Wayne telling a lot of old jokes. Unfortunately, as we were leaving the show, we could hear many others who attended the show around us voicing the same opinion.

Fantastic show. Good lighting and nice stage set up. I particularly loved the film clips of the past! Wonderful entertainer and really felt like we were in the home with how friendly and personable he was talking to the audience. Excellent!

Wayne Newton should give it up

by BeachBoyBaby on 2012-12-13The Seneca Niagara Events Center at Seneca Niagara Casino - Niagara Falls

I was quite disappointed in this show. He definitely cannot sing like he used to, but he is very personable and interacted with the audience quite well. Also, it was promoted as Christmas with Wayne Newton but once he got past the opening few songs there were no more Christmas songs performed.. I could tell that he was definitely a great entertainer at one time but should definitely give it up! I actually started to feel sorry for the man especially when several members of the audience started to walk out.

by Slysyl on 2012-12-11The Seneca Niagara Events Center at Seneca Niagara Casino - Niagara Falls

Thoroughly enjoyed the show,, can see why he is called Mr. Entertainment. Loved the fact that he high lighted his back up singers and let them sing solo.

    Wayne Newton was quite unforgettable!!!!!

by privacy on 2012-12-10The Seneca Niagara Events Center at Seneca Niagara Casino - Niagara Falls

His stories were very entertaining and he was funny but it would have been nice if he had been sober and did more singing than talking. If he had been sober maybe his voice would have been better - or maybe not. I don't like spending money on a concert when the performer is not performing. The band and singers were all great.
