Overall a very talented cast of performers and a great night of entertainment!
For our particular show The Killer Queen was played by the understudy, which in my experience doesn’t mean much - as the US’s are often just as talented if not more so than the original casted performer. However, it was evident that this Killer Queen US was underrehearsed in her footwear (high heels) and was uncomfortable being up on any prop as it was moved around the stage. Her entrance onto the stage and into the show for the first time was by being rolled in on a table and she looked so terrified (in her body language) that I had a hard time believing in her character for the rest of the performance. She was very uncomfortable in her footwear which was also distracting. I honestly felt bad for the woman. It’s too bad the wardrobe team couldn’t have made an adjustment and put her in combat boots or something flat so she could feel that much more confident. Her voice was great and she did a phenomenal job otherwise, but like I said, I couldn’t get on board with the ’confident queen iron-fist ruler’ persona due to her lack of confidence in footwear and heights.
That aside, the performance was awesome! Trevor Coll, was exceptional in the lead male role. From his first sung line “I want to break free!” I had goosebumps and tears immediately came to my eyes. He has something special, that’s for sure. A true stand out. I will watch for his name on Broadway.
I have encouraged many friends and family members to buy tickets to upcoming shows for the remainder of the tour. Thank you for bringing this to our city and so many others. Keeping arts alive! Much appreciated, always.
Rock on!
