  • Weird Al never disappoints

    by 1Angelof3 on 2018-06-05River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5

Emo Philips was very entertaining intelligent comedy. It is refreshing to hear a comedian that doesn't use swearing as a crutch. We have seen Weird Al over 7 times, I think this was has best concert of his I have seen in Edmonton, next to the one he performed at the Winspear Centre. Loved the original songs and the encore. Would go to see him do this format again. Downside for me-The first 3 rows were "VIP" , we had 2nd row seats left of center, VIP's received a bracelet that allows them to stand in front of the stage. I am disabled so I can't stand for long periods and this practice blocked our view, because Weird Al sits during this performance. If I had known I wasn't going to see anything I would have purchased balcony seating.

  • Weird Al delivers!

by JPFitz on 2018-06-05River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 4 out of 5

Second time seeing Al, this venue however leaves one lacking, like he said it was akin to watching a show in a barn.

  • Not great

by Meechandfamily on 2018-06-05River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 1 out of 5

Disappointed all he did was a mash up of a few of his popular songs.

  • Weird Al doesn’t disappoint!

Fifth time seeing weird Al, all were great! First time seeing a concert at the river Cree. Mezzanine seating was excellent! Comfy chairs, great view, bar close by as well as washrooms. Will pay extra to sit there again for future concerts.

  • Weird Al - most boring concert ever

    by ah518 on 2018-06-05River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 1 out of 5

Getting through the first song was ok. After that, sooo boring. Not sure what I expected; I think more comedy/entertainment. Him, just sitting, singing songs, and not his big hits, was torturous.

  • Great show, lousy venue

by Anonymous on 2018-06-05River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 4 out of 5

Show was excellent and would recommend to anyone. Weird Al puts on a great show, whether the big fancy show or in this tour's stripped back, simple version.never a disappointment. Venue was a big barn with mediocre amenities, overrun drink service and mediocre acoustics but Weird Al and Emo were grand.

  • River Cree not great venue.

Not a great venue. The chairs are uncomfortable and sound is not great.

  • Weird Al and Emo Philips Were Great!!

by Sptfyre on 2018-06-05Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Great show...Emo Philips was really funny, even though it was mostly recycled material and he seemed to lose his train of thought a couple of times... Weird Al was awesome...really funny and he and his band's timing was spot on!

A trifle disappointing. - we appreciated the more intimate atmosphere and the venue helped with that. That said Al is known for being slightly tongue in cheek manic and we didn't feel that energy. We were happy and entertained just not over the moon and probably would not attend again.

  • Classic Weird Al

by Bittylicious on 2018-06-05River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 4 out of 5

Emo Philips was a hilarious comedian. Really enjoyed him. Great compliment to a Weird Al show. I bought the tickets for my husband as an Xmas gift as he is a huge fan of Weird Al. The majority of the concert was all older content rather than mainstream paradoy songs. My husband was extremely happy as he has seen Weird Al in concert over 10 times but has never heard the old stuff in concert.

  • Disappointing

    by acwhite08 on 2018-06-05River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 1 out of 5

I actually can't remember the last time I saw a show when the musicians were sitting down. Oh yeah, I think it was at this open stage I went to back in 1999. Was Al even playing his accordion? If he was, I sure couldn't hear it in the mix. And all the songs were so slow tempo. He decided to do Eat It in the style of Eric Clapton's unplugged Layla, a shadow of its former self. No 80s hits done as they were originally. It was really dragging; we left early. I would NOT pay over $80 to see Weird Al again.

Show was great but leaving the meet and greet till 11pm was exhausting. Very annoyed at being rushed through the meet and greet experience.

  • Surreal...not in a good way

by EKay on 2018-06-03Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

I’ve never been to a Weird Al concert and just found it strange. Played more original stuff and less parody songs.

  • Not what I expected

by Bridgegunner on 2018-06-03Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

Booked these tickets having seen Al years ago. His previous shows were amazing. Full numbers with every song and he played all of the favorites. This time however was not the same. The concert consisted of b-sides from past albums and a few original songs. The venue was packed and not one person was singing along or dancing. Not one prop was used and the band sat static on the stage. As excellent as the performance was musically there was little emotion felt. In future I hope they advertise the fact he was going to play originals and no parodys. I would have skipped this one.

One of the best concerts we have ever attended. Totally awesome.

  • Meh

by BigJayJay on 2018-06-03Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

So I like Weird Al, but not a die hard, hard core fan so this was a little disappointing to me as he didn't sing any parody. The man can sing and the band is great, but without the parodies found it boring.

  • Good show.

by triberk on 2018-06-03Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

Good show, had fun. Emo Philips was amazing!! SO funny!!! Wish Weird Al had performed more of his popular stuff, especially Foil! Miss all the extra stuff from the videos, he just basically sat in on spot and sang. Realize that would be too hard to recreate, but some props would of been nice. Sound quality wasn't great, especially for the hard rock songs. If you didn't know the song, like we didn't know many of them, you couldn't make out the words. Did have a good time though and would recommend it.

  • Loved the obscure tracks

by Jperr on 2018-06-03Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Great to see songs played I haven’t in the past! Also enjoyed the medley of parodies at the end. Emo was pretty funny!

  • Check your expectations

by Anonymous on 2018-06-03Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

I admit I am not part of the target demographic for this concert, which is for hardcore Weird Al fans who know his extensive discography beyond the parodies. But like it or not, the parodies are what made him famous and how the average person knows of him. Imagine your disappointment if you went to any other artist and, instead of performing their own material, they played a bunch of covers. This is the inverse of that, and while I enjoyed a couple of the original songs, I couldn't help but feel like he withheld the best of his incredible talent.

  • Everything i ever wanted in a concert!

This was my first time seeing Weird Al, it was a phenominal show! Reasonably priced tickets, cozy venue and great to see Emo Philips!
