Whitney Cummings on Tour

Whitney Cummings is a Los Angeles-based comedian, actor, writer, producer and director. Best known for creating and starring in the NBC series "Whitney," she also co-created and co-wrote (with Michael Patrick King) the Emmy-nominated CBS comedy series "2 Broke Girls."

In November of this year, Whitney launched her own podcast titled "Good For You." Whitney has a lot of questions for a lot of different kinds of people. She also has opinions. And a robot. "Good For You" is self-produced by Whitney alongside Made By Super and records in Los Angeles. New episodes are released on Wednesdays.

Whitney debuted her 4th stand up special, "Can I Touch It?" on Netflix on July 30th. The special includes Whitney's signature incisive commentary on gender dynamics is more relevant than ever. Filmed at the Sidney Harmon Hall in her hometown, Washington, DC. The special touches Whitney's take on everything including her signature incisive commentary on gender dynamics and why we should give sex robots a chance.

Up next, Whitney will star and executive produce a new half-hour comedy for Amazon, "Good People" which she co-created alongside Lee Daniels. The show revolves around three generations of women working in the ombudsman's office of a college that navigates the current cultural climate, the concept of feminism across different generations, and the struggle to reconcile socially constructed ideas with current ethical views regarding complex issues such as sec, race, class and gender.

In October 2017, Whitney debuted her novel "I'm Fine...And Other Lies," which details her brutal anxiety and codependency disorder, written with her trademark entertaining wit, humor, and honesty. That same year, Whitney made her directorial debut with the feature adaptation of Louann Brizendine's best-seller, "The Female Brain". In addition to co-writing and directing, she stars alongside Sofia Vergara, James Marsden, Lucy Punch, Toby Kebbell, Cecily Strong, Beanie Feldstein, and Blake Griffin. "The Female Brain" comically details the inner workings and complex power of brain chemistry among couples at different stages of their relationships. The film premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was distributed by IFC.

On the big screen, Whitney was last seen in "Unforgettable" for Warner Bros. Past feature film credits include "The Wedding Ringer," "Made of Honor," and "The Ridiculous Six." Whitney has appeared in such series as "Undateable," "Workaholics," "Maron" and the Comedy Central Roasts, which have solidified her presence in comedy television.

Her first one-hour stand up special, "Money Shot," premiered on Comedy Central in August 2010 and was nominated for an American Comedy Award. Her second one-hour stand-up special, "Whitney Cummings: I Love You," debuted on Comedy Central in June 2014. Her third one-hour stand-up special "I'm Your Girlfriend," aired on HBO in 2016.

    Expected much more

by A. W. on 2023-04-28Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Her opening comedian was better than Whitney which was so disappointing but she actually did comedy and made us laugh! Whitney did a skit on trans people and went on about being scared as a comedian to say anything which in todays world is understandable yet ridiculous. Whitney is known for her roasts and instead she spend way too long out in the calgary crowd getting to know calgary and she wasn’t getting much back from the gentlemen she stopped to talk to and then people starting calling her over and you know those aren’t the ones you really want to hear from. The show was boring I wasn’t there to listen to the crowd and learn about how where everyone works, she even spent a lot of time talking to the security staff near the stage at grey eagle! I was there to laugh and she wasn’t funny, and I was so bored, maybe just an off night, maybe tired end of her tour, my thoughts are that it wasn’t worth the money and that I got more entertainment in the casino. We check out live comedy in calgary all the time and have way better local acts that deserve my money more than this event did.

One Main Topic and Audience Chit Chat

by Jess on 2023-04-28Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Love her but she didn't seem to have much material , most her bit was about Trans woman which was funny but expected more. She spent a large chunk of time in the audience chit chatting.

DJ and first 2 comics were great. Then…..

by J on 2023-04-27Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg

Great tunes wanted us to get up and start dancing before the show started so shoutout to the DJ. The opening two comics were very good and we could have listen to the second comic longer. He had set the tone and was getting into his rhythm. When Whitney came out a fight broke out behind us and I think that had to affect her. Can’t imagine the anxiety of coming out and then being thrown off by that. But the mood changed around us and her new material wasn’t a hit, She really tried to push ahead with trans gender comedy and went back to it repeatedly. Some of it was ok, but most was way off. I guess it’s still a work in progress. Better luck next time in Wpg, WC.

    Whitney is amazing!

by PeterWhite on 2023-04-26Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg

What a class act. I don't say this often, but she should charge more for the caliber of show that she has. Opener laughed too much at own jokes. Second comedian got the audience properly warmed up. Whitney has great energy and audience participation. I'm amazed that she stayed for selfies at the end. Only downside was WPG. Second show in a row that I've gone to where a fight has broken out. I don't understand that and hope it doesn't become a trend. Whitney seemed frightened when security around the stage had to go help break up the fight.
