About

WICKED is a Tony-winning sensation that has been defying gravity and delighting Broadway audiences since 2003. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the fantastical prequel to The Wizard of Oz was nominated for 10 Tony Awards after it opened at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, and won three, including Best Actress for Idina Menzel, who played the original Elphaba. The musical’s first national tour opened in 2005 and ever since, WICKED’s touring production has criss-crossed North America offering theatergoers one short day in the Emerald City filled with magic, music and the ”untold true story of the Witches of Oz.” The second national tour — known as the “Munchkinland Tour” — has been an open-ended production since 2009 and now stars Olivia Valli as Elphaba and Celia Hottenstein as Glinda.

Wicked was over the top phenomenal!

by MackJ on 2017-06-02Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

Wicked topped out as my all time favourite performance!! My daughter and I laughed and cried as the actors brought life to the untold story of the Wicked Witch and her unexpected relationships with Glinda, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow. Children of all ages will love the music and the story that captivated our hearts from the very start!

    Wonderful Show. Beautiful Theatre.

by CazB on 2017-05-24Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

I brought my teen age daughter from Toronto to Shea's Buffalo to see this show, which I've seen before without her. It's a show that appeals to all age groups. I knew the story was excellent and was impressed with the the company, particularly the two female leads who carry a huge portion of the show. Their voices were spot on. My daughter fell in love with the show. The unexpected star was the theatre itself. The Shea is a stunning jewel in downtown Buffalo. I've been to a lot of live theatre, particularly in Toronto and at the Stratford Festive, which have some fantastic venues, but this is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. I'll look for other opportunities to go there. The only down side was the squished knee room. People were smaller back when the theatre was built. The event was definitely worth the drive.

    Wicked is Wicked! Awesome!

by QuiteAnnoyed on 2015-10-06ASU Gammage - Tempe

I've seen Wicked now 6 times - New York, Boston, London, San Francisco, Saskatoon Canada and Tempe. Every performance was great, some individual characters standing out more than others. In this performance we saw the best Glinda of all. This young woman is amazing and nailed the character. Elfaba was excellent as well, but their performance together was stellar. It was a real treat.

    One of the very best!

    by mojave3 on 2015-08-29ASU Gammage - Tempe

My 3rd time seeing this iconic musical and this presentation did not disappoint. The ASU Gammage theatre is lovely with some amazing history. The stage is inviting and the seating very comfortable. I saw the show on its opening night and the presentation was truly spectacular. Very high quality singing, ensemble, dancing and staging. Numerous times I got choked up and completely involved in the live theatre experience. I highly recommend this show to anyone and cannot wait for the fourth time to see it!
