About

WICKED is a Tony-winning sensation that has been defying gravity and delighting Broadway audiences since 2003. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the fantastical prequel to The Wizard of Oz was nominated for 10 Tony Awards after it opened at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, and won three, including Best Actress for Idina Menzel, who played the original Elphaba. The musical’s first national tour opened in 2005 and ever since, WICKED’s touring production has criss-crossed North America offering theatergoers one short day in the Emerald City filled with magic, music and the ”untold true story of the Witches of Oz.” The second national tour — known as the “Munchkinland Tour” — has been an open-ended production since 2009 and now stars Olivia Valli as Elphaba and Celia Hottenstein as Glinda.

    Simply spectacular

by Rwissink on 2014-07-16Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I love theater but this show was more then just another show for me. From the plot, to the acting to ever most touching musical numbers Wicked was money well spent. If I could only go see one more show for the rest of my life Wicked would be it.

This was an excellent show to see with my mother. I would have given 5 stars but I felt that the event cost more than I would have liked to spend.

    Wicked was wicked

by JLOliv on 2014-07-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

It was a wonderful, witty show. I laughed and I cried. I am glad I didn't know the story line of the play, because it was a surprise all the way through. The actors where great, and could see that they enjoy and love their jobs. In some scenes the hair on my arms would raise. The singing was powerful. The only thing I would change is my seat. I wish I was closer. Thank you for a job well done. I took my three adult children and husband. I will start saving as I would love to see it again. So good that I came I saw and I got the t-shirt. This is our first time to any musical event, the cost hinders us from them. Which is sad because it was so good. Should be made more affordable.

    WICKED is life changing

by enmbinc on 2014-07-15Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Okay maybe not quite get the girl of your dreams life changing but it sure does make you think about everything you thought you knew. The music was fabulous. I love the audio broadway version; but the cast at the Edmonton show was amazing with all the inflection and passion of their broadway counterparts. The orchestra is exceptional hitting every cue (and there are lots) and note. The dancing was sublime, strong partnering and precision enhanced the music and storyline. I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 10 but adults will love the humor, costumes, plot and delivery of the script. Glad it came back to Edmonton!

We (my husband and I ) first seen Wicked in New York three years ago. We were so excited to see it again. It was the same high caliber as the New York performance and we were totally blown away again! Highly recommend experiencing this amazing group of talent.
