About

WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story. It will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.

We were pleasantly surprised at the storyline. Wonderfully told while still letting us remember the Wizard of Oz. Lots of laughter . Costumes and sets were spectacular.

Prices for good musicals are high but Wicked is definitely worth. Even the parts we expected blew us out of our seats. Top class, world class, this is the 1-2-c!

Nothing special, I think the book must have done well enough that they didn't bother to put in any real effort. Costumes, sets and performances were all great, but the baseline script & score were completely phoned in. If this show is as advertised, the biggest thing on Broadway in the last decade, then it has been a sad decade indeed. If the tickets were half the price (and I bought the cheap seats) it would have been worthwhile, but at those prices there is no way the show was worth that much. I can't believe the good seats were going upwards of $400. If I had paid that I would have been back at the box office demanding a refund before the first intermission. I think this show could really only be a hit with those people who want themselves to seem more cultured because they went to a Broadway show. It is a soft entry into the world of musical theatre and I don't think those that enjoy this would enjoy much else (maybe Lion King).

This was my second time seeing Wicked and I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time. I took my 2 nieces to see it for their first time and they loved it! They thought that it was truley magical.

  • Plot singing with no melody

by jango on 2014-07-02Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

We left at intermission! I have seen at least 10 musicals, but this one did not grab me enough after 2hours, to make me stay, and I am a huge fan of the Wizard of Oz. I can usually remember a tune from a show, but these songs were forgettable, screaming words which were hard to understand. I was in row 14, at the side. Save your money.

  • Wicked was better than ever!!!!

I didn't think the second time i saw Wicked could top the first, but i was blown away. The leads were perfectly suited to their roles and did an incredible job. Initial pricing was overpriced, but we booked when there was the 3 plus me special. Easy to find another 2 who want to see the production. I would have gone twice if the pricing was more reasonable at the start. Can't get enough of WICKED! Well played! Well done! Congratuations on your Vancouver run and good luck on your next city.

Went with my mother, her friend, and my brother. We all thought the show was fantastic! Loved the combination of humor and drama. Excellent set designs and smooth transitions from one scene to another. Strong acting performances by all characters!

  • Incredibly Wicked ...

Clever story line. The production values were high. The actors - singing, dancing and acting - were superlatively good. The chemistry between the two witches, the two sisters and the lovers was mesmerizing. VERY WELL DONE!

This was an amazing performance. The acting and singing was fabulous. The storyline was very well written and cleverly came together to tie it all together in the end. Loved it.

  • I'd see it again in a heartbeat!

I am a huge fan of musicals. And this is one of my favourites. The musical numbers. When Glinda sings "Popular", each Glinda is given the chance to add her own quirkiness to the piece so each performance is different. "Defying Gravity" always has me on the edge of my seat. And "For Good" makes me cry every time.

  • The actors were great!!!

by HANL on 2014-07-02Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

I couldn't take my eyes off the actors, music, stage, and costumes. They were splendid even though the story line looked rather weak.

I have seen Wicked before and forgotten how funny and entertaining it is! The cast members were all very good singers and the two main characters, Elphaba and Glinda were amazing!

  • Excellent title -warns viewers of pending turmoil.

    by M9201 on 2014-07-01Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

The singing by both lead witches was truly thrilling to experience. Both of them were gifted with voices that projected the humour and concern of the story in a meaningful way. The set was seriously impressive and prepared the backdrop for dramatic mood changes. The costumes imaginative, colourful and fun. A worthwhile entertainment.
