About

WICKED is a Tony-winning sensation that has been defying gravity and delighting Broadway audiences since 2003. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the fantastical prequel to The Wizard of Oz was nominated for 10 Tony Awards after it opened at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, and won three, including Best Actress for Idina Menzel, who played the original Elphaba. The musical’s first national tour opened in 2005 and ever since, WICKED’s touring production has criss-crossed North America offering theatergoers one short day in the Emerald City filled with magic, music and the ”untold true story of the Witches of Oz.” The second national tour — known as the “Munchkinland Tour” — has been an open-ended production since 2009 and now stars Olivia Valli as Elphaba and Celia Hottenstein as Glinda.

    Fabulous

by Dilee on 2014-08-30Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Show was fantastic, costumes, actors, singing all so good. Great twist on the story. Only critique would be clarity of the songs, orchestra overpowered and hard to understand a few times.

    Wicked was, well . . . . WICKED

by Joey19 on 2014-08-30Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

I was not familiar with the story and LOVED it! I was not expecting the alot of the humor and it was great. Venue and the actors and the music were fantastic. Although our seats were in the last row on the second balcony, it was still great! Highly recommend and would for sure go again.

    Excellent story, clever writing

by Riverside on 2014-08-29Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed Wicked. Of course the music and performances were topnotch, but we were especially impressed by how neatly the story dovetailed with the movie version of The Wizard of Oz, and how the dialogue made subtle references to the very familiar dialogue. If you love Broadway musical, you'll love Wicked. Even if you're reluctant to see a Broadway musical, you'll enjoy Wicked because it's smart and so very well made.

    Wicked was exatly that...Wicked

by Mynzee on 2014-08-28Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

This is the seond time I have seen this show. It was just as great as the first. Beautifully told, the sets were amazing and the cast was fabulous. We had great seats and the sound system was perfect. I was especially touched seeing the news clip where they went to Ronald Mcdonald House to meet and entertain the kids and their families...Now that is a class act...Those families will remember that forever....

This is the fourth time I have seen Wicked and I would go back again tomorrow if I could! The music, costumes and acting was all amazing! I laughed so hard at Galinda through the first half of the show and Elphaba gave me chills during defying gravity. Love all the clever tie ins with the wizard of Oz. A MUST SEE!!

    Wicked was the best EVER!

by Lifeline on 2014-08-28Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

I've been to a LOT of theatre productions including but not limited to The Book of Mormone (New York), Momma Mia (Toronto & Winnipeg), the Nutrcracker (Winnipeg) and Wicked was by far my favourite. The actors were AMAZING, the costumers were out of this world and I LOVED the footwear and hats! From the moment it began to the standing ovation it was unforgettable. I have recommended it to numerous people and hope to see it again in the future. Thank you CAST!!!
