About

Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. He wrote his first song at the age of seven and joined his first band at ten, playing concerts as a lead singer and guitar player while still in high school. He spent the ‘50s and ‘60s writing songs for established acts such as Ray Price and Patsy Cline, as well as releasing a string of albums on Liberty and RCA beginning with his debut …And Then I Wrote in 1962. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. 1975’s Red Headed Stranger and 1978’s Stardust followed on Columbia Records, both garnering commercial and critical success. The ‘80s saw the release of No. 1 albums Honeysuckle Rose, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Always on My Mind, and The Promiseland, as well as Nelson joining Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson in the country supergroup The Highwaymen, touring and releasing three studio albums between 1985 and 1995. Nelson continues to release a new album almost every year and delight ticket buyers in live shows to this day.

  • Willie does it again!

by Bluesrockdog on 2013-06-23The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - WindsorRating: 4 out of 5

Willie Nelson a country music icon and rebel, worked the crowd very well with his gentle voice and impressive guitar work. The supporting cast made up mostly of family members were all very good. He played a spattering of songs, many that he wrote for others, and some that he kept for himself. He urged the crowd to sing along on many of his best known hits. It was a very enjoyable evening and he could have played all night long.

  • 80 years old and still kickin'

This event was on my girlfriend's bucket list as I am not a country music fan, but recognize some of his music. We waited over an hour outside Willie's bus to get atleast one good picture of the music legend and after patiently waiting, he came out of that bus, put his head down and stopped for a picture with some 90yr old fan of his and proceeded into Massey Hall.... pretty disrespectful for all of those other fans that were young enough to remember a moment like that. I found the venue to be a great place except it seemed like no one was standing up and clapping and singing along. What a shame. Willie finally got everyone to get up and start clapping with about a half hour left and that was the only thing that kept me awake as I was seriously dosing off. All in all, my girlfriend loved to see him before his music career (or life) comes to an end but she"s also never been to a concert before, as this DID NOT have any characteristics of a true concert.

I have been seeing Willie in concert since the early 80's and even 30 years later he never fails to put on a great show. The band is virtually the same since the first time I saw him and see Willie and Bobbie and Mickey and the rest of the Family is always a joy. From all the Willie Nelson classics to a great Hank Williams segment the show was fantastic. Don't miss him if you are a fan.

  • Willie is just plain good !

Went to his concert here in Windsor at the casino. I was highly anticipating seeing him as to me he is an icon of American music and is admired around the world. His influence has spanned many decades and he has collaborated with some greats in the industry in many genres. He is beyond great as a poet and songwriter. His love of all music is evident as he likes to sing everything from gospel to Pearl Jam! I was not disappointed in the least. I know he just turned 80 this month (June) and you know he is quick as a whip! He has wonderful stage prescence and everyone knows he has character in his physical appearance. He does it his way and his love of entertaining was evident at this show. Willie has always been low key but he has an amazing songbook and some awesome skills with that battered and I mean battered old guitar! Thanks Willie, you made my decade! Go see him at least once in your life that is what I say.

Willie displayed amazing talent with song and on the guitar. His 90 minute set of continuous music was unbelievable for an 80 yo. The set list was a nice mix of his own compositions and those of others: Hank Williams, Kris Kristofferson.

  • Most unforgettable concert ever!

by AlbertaMusicFan on 2012-10-01Broward Center for Performing Arts - Fort Lauderdale, FLRating: 5 out of 5

We flew from Canada to see Willie on my husband's birthday. It was the best concert experience of our lives! We sat in the 2nd row, centre and were in tears to truly be in the presence of greatness! Willie sounded great as always and his guitar skills with Trigger were inspiring. It was so nice of Willie to sign autographs at the end of the show to thank the audience. More performers could take a lesson from that in recognizing and respecting the fans that support them. Willie was and is a gentleman and truly class act!

  • Worst concert ever. Guy behind screamed "Willie!!

    by John191239402 on 2012-03-24Silver Legacy - RenoRating: 1 out of 5

I hated it. Guy behind us screamed Willie at the top of his lungs all concert. We could not here the songs or speech. This knucle dragger cleared the entire row of people in front of him.Others in our section were so drunk they wandered around blocking our view. Willie was not much better, he looked like he wanted to get out ASAP.The opening act we were told was Neil Young's wife. She should learn to sing before she gets on stage. All in all we wasted our money. I could not wait for it to be over.

  • Willie Nelson & Family = Talent!!

by CanadagirlinDenver on 2010-09-07Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

We have to give full stars to the Nelson family for putting on a great show. Lucas Nelson who opened the show is definitely an up and comer and is oozing talent. Ryan Bingham was good...but nothing I would rush to see again. Willie came out and took the night home with his sister and sons playing alongside him. It was a real pleasure to watch and a great night.

  • Willie Rocked!

by SuzyCanuck on 2009-07-11Covelli Centre (formerly Chevrolet Centre) - YoungstownRating: 4 out of 5

I was totally impressed with Willie. My one serious complaint is that I was under the impression that Billie Bob Thornton and his band were supposed to open (either according to the Ticketmaster website, or Willie's - can't remember which), and there was no Billie Bob, and no one knew what I was talking about when I asked. I came down all the way from Canada to Youngstown to see BOTH. So I was very disappointed in that respect.
