About

Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. He wrote his first song at the age of seven and joined his first band at ten, playing concerts as a lead singer and guitar player while still in high school. He spent the ‘50s and ‘60s writing songs for established acts such as Ray Price and Patsy Cline, as well as releasing a string of albums on Liberty and RCA beginning with his debut …And Then I Wrote in 1962. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. 1975’s Red Headed Stranger and 1978’s Stardust followed on Columbia Records, both garnering commercial and critical success. The ‘80s saw the release of No. 1 albums Honeysuckle Rose, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Always on My Mind, and The Promiseland, as well as Nelson joining Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson in the country supergroup The Highwaymen, touring and releasing three studio albums between 1985 and 1995. Nelson continues to release a new album almost every year and delight ticket buyers in live shows to this day.

What a talented man. Hope I'm still going that strong at his age. Any fans out there who have not seen him are missing a great show. His band is also very talented.

  • Don't Expect A Lot of Willie

by YVRLANJ on 2014-07-18Casino Rama - RamaRating: 2 out of 5

Opening act was 1 hour and 20 minutes, okay but not who I came to see, then 20 minute intermission and then Willie came out at 10:10 pm on a Tuesday night for 55 minutes. Okay and glad I saw him in concert, voice was not bad, mostly talked the songs, guitar playing great but not worth ever going again.

  • Willie Nelson Concert Disappointment

by Chinooby on 2014-07-18Casino Rama - RamaRating: 1 out of 5

I went to see Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss at Casino Rama. Alison Krauss opened and played for 1 1/2 hour which was very enjoyable. The quality of the musicians was incredible. After a 15 minute intermission which was announced to be 30 minutes so some people missed a bit. I went to see a legend in country music. What completely disappointed me was the fact that Willie spoke most of the lyrics and seemed to be rushing through the songs. Even when he motioned for the audience to sing, he still just spoke the words. He hadn't lost his singing voice because every so often he would sing a line. I don't know why Willie doesn't give the audience what they came to hear but certainly wouldn't recommend going to see him in concert.

  • Fantastic

The Willie Nelson concert was fantastic. I would recommend everyone go see him.

  • Willies music was ageless

    by Bear54 on 2014-07-18Casino Rama - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

It was a slow start but after 3 songs he hit his mark and his voice and his guitar playing was unforgettable. He didn't need a truck load of gear to shine. His sister on piano really made the honky tonk sound come through. Would love see him again.

  • Memorable

    by Filly46 on 2014-07-18Casino Rama - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

Willy gives a good show for a man his age and he certainly was a lot livelier than the show that preceded him. The close ups of his face and his guitar were beautiful. On the other hand, Allison Krause seemed flat. She sings beautifully. The music she gets out of a fiddle is amazing. She just didn't seem to have a whole lot of energy. Their onstage banter is lost on the audience if they don't speak into their mikes. Seemed rather pointless. There were no closeups of any of the band as they were featured or of Allison as she sang. Very disappointing.

except for the usual casino audience taking the first 15 minutes of the concert to get to their seats, it was great.

  • Wonderful evening amid the Finger Lakes

by Kraussfan on 2014-06-24Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - CanandaiguaRating: 5 out of 5

The CMAC venue in Canandaigua, NY was A1...accessible, comfortable, with great amenities. Concert featured a range of musical styles, from Kasey Musgraves, to Alison Krauss & Union Station, to Willie Nelson & Family. While there's only one Willie, Alison and the boys were the evening's highlight for me. Wonderful harmonies displaying each musician's diverse talents.

The Wild Feathers, the opening act, were great. Love seeing them with Willie. Allison Krauss was good, had never seen her before, would do it again. Willie Nelson was the best. Can't see him enough.

  • Willie and Lyle at the Hollywood Bowl

by wallet on 2013-08-12Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

FIrst time to the Holllywood Bowl - great party atmosphere; Lyle Lovett gave a strong entertaining performance, low-key but funny and memorable. Willie seemed lost when he came out and the playing & singing was a struggle; not sure he can perform at this level any more and I encourage him to have smaller, less intimidating venues (?); the music was too slow and he did not get the audience involved until the very end. A bit sad and I recommend him only as I don't think he will (should) be performing very much longer.

  • Willie's getting tired

by Nancypete on 2013-06-26The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - WindsorRating: 3 out of 5

I was so looking forward to seeing Willie Nelson in concert. His guitar playing was amazing but the singing or should I say speaking of the lyrics left a lot to be desired. He did sing a couple of songs but mostly he spoke all the lyrics. Needless to say I was very disappointed especially considering the amount of money I paid.

  • Still Willie

by JanetK on 2013-06-26Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Willie never fails to satisfy. He is noticeably slower on his feet, but his fingers still fly and his voice still moves ya. The hall, Massey, reminded me of the Ryman Auditorium in the old days, though I have only been there once in the 90's, not exactly back in the day but before the renovations. I wonder if he enjoyed Massey Hall for its aura as I did. Willie didn't talk much, no references to Waylon or George or even Merle, who is the one of those who still lives. Willie still lives and still is the full deal. If you missed him this time, make sure you get your tickets early for the next time. He did sing some new songs off his new CD,"Willie Nelson and Family", Otherwise, you can probably imagine the songs and sounds and even the visuals of the concert. That's the point.
