Winnipeg Jets History
The Winnipeg Jets were founded in 1997 as the Thrashers, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, spending 11 seasons in Atlanta and making the playoffs once in 2006-2007. In 2011, the franchise was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment, which relocated the team to Winnipeg and adopted the name of the city's original franchise in the World Hockey Association, the Jets.
Major league hockey dates back to 1972 in Winnipeg, which was home to one of the founding franchises of the WHA and one of four (along with Quebec, Hartford and Edmonton) to join the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979. The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes (then the Arizona Coyotes, who were in play from 1994 to 2024). In the 14 seasons that the Jets have been in Winnipeg, they’ve made eight playoff appearances, including a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2018.
In 2016, the team established the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame, with the "Hot Line" trio of Anders Hedberg, Bobby Hull and Ulf Nilsson as the inaugural inductees. Recent inductees include Teemu Selänne and Teppo Numminen.

My son and I travelled from BC to Winnipeg to watch a Jets game. What a great experience that was! Other fans were very welcoming (we were cheering for the Jets, too, so that probably helped), and the arena was a great place to watch a game. Highly recommend!
Beer is waaaaay too expensive. And the parking garage was pretty un organized . And yes wheeler did interfere with the goalie therefore NO GOAL.
Overall it was a great experience I love seeing my team live! The one thing that I would improve is more noticeable accessible parking outside the arena so it’s not difficult to get to Canada life Center.
Took my 8 year old. Loved the visual effects. The acknowledgment of Treat 1 territory. The fans in our area were fun. The food although pricey was delicious. We had a great time!
Great atmosphere. Need more available beer selections. Bud and Bud lite doesn't cut it.
Great atmosphere on opening night. Crowd was engaged and seats were great. Fun night.
Amazing time. Good goals from the boys. The beers were $12
unbelievable fast service entering the game .. the whole process was very pleasant.. friendly service we had a wonderful time.
I loved going to Winnipeg Jets exhibition game. Went with my Dad who is in his 80s. We both had a great time. The light show is fabulous and gets us pumped up. I yet “Go Jets Go!”, right after a face off. I know the players can hear that. Last year I yelled “Wake Up!” at various games where the Jets were not hustling. I certainly know they heard that. Lol!
First time getting by the glass in awhile. Was nice to get cheaper tix because pre season
Was my first ever Jets game I attended against Seattle. Though the Jets were out of the playoffs, the game was fun and nice that the home team won! The contests and different promotions during breaks in play/intermission was entertaining. Seats were great, good sight lines for the most part. Felt the game went by so much faster in-person than watching on TV. Getting into the venue was fairly quick despite the lineup of people waiting to get inside (we got there 10 minutes before the start of the game). Only complaint was traffic and trying to find parking but that was to be expected. I overall enjoyed my first Jets game and look forward to attending another one next season.
Perfect game we won. We saw Dennis' retirement speech awesome. We the fans gave him a standing ovation, well deserved. I wish I could of won a jersey off your back contest. It would be very cool to meet a player. My son's dream & he's 22. hahahahaha
The pregame show was fantastic! Every arena needs the ability to show that level of entertainment on the ice. There were a lot of things going on around the arena for the fan appreciation game. Lots of energy!
It was my second jets game overall. I really enjoyed the setting and the action on the ice our seats were pretty good. My wife also was her second game overall. She really enjoyed the experience and for sure we will be back next season. GO JETS
From the anticipation built driving to the stadium, waiting in line, and walking through the front doors, nothing beats the feeling of experiencing a live hockey game. This was my second time attending a Jets game in Winnipeg. I enjoyed a beer and hot dog with my partner while appreciating top athletes compete. I love the hoser cam and getting to participate in the wave. We were lucky enough to score for overtime to get our bang for our buck. Even though the Jets didn’t win, I’m looking forward to the next game I can attend. You won’t find an exhilarating feeling like this anywhere else.
This was my very first NHL game. It was an experience I will never forget. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased a couple of more tickets for the Calgary Flames and Jets game. It was awesome
Enjoyed game jets verus kings going back Friday to see Colorado game
My seats were at the very top in section 330 row 12 and there were really good seats I could see everything and I could still enjoy even though I was that high
It’s a wonderful experience to watch game .Light & sound system was thrilling. I and my kids loved every moment of the game . No complaint except food was little expensive..
