Winnipeg Jets History
The Winnipeg Jets were founded in 1997 as the Thrashers, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, spending 11 seasons in Atlanta and making the playoffs once in 2006-2007. In 2011, the franchise was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment, which relocated the team to Winnipeg and adopted the name of the city's original franchise in the World Hockey Association, the Jets.
Major league hockey dates back to 1972 in Winnipeg, which was home to one of the founding franchises of the WHA and one of four (along with Quebec, Hartford and Edmonton) to join the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979. The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes (then the Arizona Coyotes, who were in play from 1994 to 2024). In the 14 seasons that the Jets have been in Winnipeg, they’ve made eight playoff appearances, including a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2018.
In 2016, the team established the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame, with the "Hot Line" trio of Anders Hedberg, Bobby Hull and Ulf Nilsson as the inaugural inductees. Recent inductees include Teemu Selänne and Teppo Numminen.

My experiences at the MTS Center for Jets games is always good. They run a very smooth operation. No hiccups. The only thing I can complain about is the high prices for beer. They are priced so high now that I literally don’t drink beer at the jets games anymore so you priced yourselves out of getting any of my money now for beverages. I’ll but a Timmy’s now instead. The Jets did lose the game however however but it doesn’t change my experience
Big win over the Wild. Last season the Jets were 0 for 5 against the Wild. Nice to get this first win over our close central rivals
Exceeded my expectations. Full view of the ice and close up view of the action.
It was a great first ever jets game! Wonderful little activities for the fans, beautiful performance with the soldiers!
Harassed before, during and after game by Jets fans. Never been to an area of such arrogant, homer fans.
I totally love going to Jets games. This seat used to be one of my Season Tickets so it was great to see everyone I knew also.
Had a great time watching a great game. It was my first time in the "nosebleeds" but I actually enjoyed my location and could see pretty well.
Jets vs Hurricanes game was excellent first period was quite no score, second period was no score as well Jets couldn’t buy a goal bit Brousseau was on fire in net! Third period rocked! Go Jets Go!
Generally a fun and well organized event. Need to allow food truck vendors to sell drinks, not just arena concessions. was a very hot day. And drink from concession was overpriced and warm. some speakers at street level too loud.
We took our kids to two of these events and had a great time! We loved it and we are looking forward to the next season and more Whiteout parties!
Great game, amazing atmosphere, seats were high but good views.
It was awesome. This city rallied behind our team and the city was behind them 100%. Hockey Canada is amazing and I hope we can show them our support next year too!
This was a amazing time to spend with all the people of Winnipeg
Was a good experience, next year we'll go all the way!
Amazing way to show the NHL, how a city celebrates there team in a safe environment
Do you really want me to review a game where my team was eliminated from the playoffs?!
Disappointing outcome to an otherwise amazing season.
wow, that is all I can say... WOW...there is always next year Winnipeg Jet, and will continue to support my team
It was amazing watching Vegas eliminate Winnipeg in person. To watch the Western final trophy lifted live and the atmosphere was electric. Ticket prices were very very high
